Hi,

Does anybody know anything about this? I was told my an inmate that the men were going to be moved and Mule Creek would be turned into a medical facility. The guy I was talking to said he'd either go to Folsom or the new place in Delano--Kern Valley?

Anybody else hearing about folks moving? Has anyone heard that any of them are staying.

I coordinate a letter writing and visitation program and we're dealing with about a dozen guys there at this time. Some have changed in such good ways since we've been in touch.

I was told my an inmate that the men were going to be moved and Mule Creek would be turned into a medical facility.

The last i heard was Mule Creek is to be transferring inmates to Old Folsom because the prison is so outdated it cannot handle the type of inmates they have there. Mule Creek is a lot lower lever prison with less problems so those inmates are suppose to go to Folsom.
It really has nothing to do with them changing Mule Creek into a medical facility but i may be wrong and they could have changed it now.

i talked to my friend about this on saturday and he said it was just a rumor. he's on A yard and he said there's no big move happening. i don't about any of the other yards though.

I go to MC every weekend and they said that if it does happen it will be all of the yards they will be going to old folsom and it will be within the next couple of months.

Mule Creek has both level 3 and level 4 yards, so it's not a lower security inmate population. Unless they are moving only the non-special needs, minimum security inmates.

Thanks, everyone for the replies.

Elizabeth, I'm at Mule Creek evry other weekend on Saturday. Usually I get there around 10-10:30 AM since I have a 2 hour drive--when there is no fog and no crazy traffic. I'm around 5/2", brown hair greying at the temples, glasses and bangs. If you see anybody who looks like that, say "hi." We may already have talked. I'm getting to know the regulars a little.

So it sounds like SOME inmates are being moved, eh? SOME may go to Old Folsom and some may go to the new place in Delano. And some will be moved as ealy as --two months from now.

Hm. I'm an ordained minister and was asked by one of the inmaes in A, who IS being moved, to perfom him wedding at Mule Creek. I'm trying to connect with the staff person who arranges the weddings. The pending move makes these connections and preparations somewhat urgent.

Again, thanks, everyone for your input.

My husband who is at Mule Creek said that last week there were a bunch of men in suits walking around the prison grounds. He said that one of the CO's went to ask them what was going on and to be stairght with him about rumors of everyone being moved. He said that the man in the suit said that yes this is true and it should all take place in 120 days. My husband also said that people were saying that they had just hired about 40 people to drive the buses for the moves. I think it will happen it is just a matter of when...

Hear it goes:

Hello Everyone,
I just received an update on the swap of Folsom & Mule Creek populations,
straight from the warden. The mac reps have already been advised of the
situation.

1.)Yard A & B will remain SNY. Yard C will become General Population.
2.)All level 4 inmates will remain at Mule Creek (as far as this situation
goes)
3.)Level 2 &3's will be considered for the transfer that will move
approximately 800 inmates to folsom.
4.)Folsom will become entirely SNY.
5.)The GP population for C yard will come from Folsom
6.)EOP inmates will stay, CCCMS are eligible for transfer
7.)Transfer will begin soon most likely within the next month.
Although there is no real answer as to who will be chosen to go, the
following will definitely will be considered.

-Inmates who volunteer, if your loved one wants to move please let their
counselor know. If you want a transfer that will help save some who do not.
Do this as soon as possible!

-Non programming inmates, those that do not have a job, are not in school or
in a vocational program.

Talked last night to my partner who is in B yard. He said that A yard and C yard are being moved and that 80% of the guys in B yard will stay there.

queenbeas21
02-26-2006, 12:25 AM
how come all the conflicting accounts of the move when ms said the info she got came straight from the warden?

i don't care because folsom isn't that much further when i already have to drive 123 miles to ione. my guy's been in the hole since january 8th, but he is eop. either he doesn't know about it or he's not involved and not saying anything. since we can't do phone calls, i won't know for probably three weeks by the time the letters come back and forth.

keep the posts coming! we'll figure this out one way or the other!

take care.

Just spoke with my partner this week who is in B yard. He tells me that A and C are all moving to folsom and only some from B. He said the first time we spoke that he didn't know if he would move or not and we figured since I was flying out from Ohio to visit it would probably happen the day my plane landed. NEWS now is that there were enough volunteers from B yard that he won't be moved at all.

tHIS HAS BEEN TALKED ABOUT FOR OVER A YEAR AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN PLANNED THAT A YARD WOULD BE MOVNG BECAUSE THE SECURITY RISKS AT FOLSOM ARE LESS DANGEROUS SINCE A YARD AT MULE CREEK IS SNY. fOLSOM IS SO MUCH OLDER THAT THEY FELT THE ONES THAT ARE IN SNY ARE NOT GOING TO BE FIGTING LIKE THE OTHER POPULATION DOES.
MY EX PEN PAL TOLD ME ABOUT THIS MOVE IN 2004 AND SAID IT WAS A MATTER OF TIME.

Crappo! I don't even know what level mine is! Yard B is all and that he got lowered recently enough that he could ALMOST end up in E-bunks. Said he is definately not going, that there were enough volunteers that he wouldn't have to. They just CAN'T move him, I've just gotten used to the Sacramento Airport and I don't get lost going to Ione anymore! ...yeah, men don't use maps! ;?)

queenbeas21

02-27-2006, 04:01 PM
I'm with ya, having BEEN an inmate, MCSP looks and sounds pretty decent and my guy was glad to get back there after he lost his retrial and realized he'd not be coming home! Now, what HE calls the "E" Bunks are the bunks that are three or four high out in the day room of his building. Can you believe this stockyard concept. They have two guys in cells that were meant for one, now they are stacking guys in the day room in bunks three high! I don't know if his building is the only one with bunks in the day room but I was under the impression that others were too...maybe not depending on the classification level.

queenbeas21
02-27-2006, 04:09 PM
wow, i didn't know they did things like that, but i believe anything a prison does. i guess they can't keep up with the demand even though seems like they've built quite a few prisons all over the state. they should just let our guys come home! there's be plenty of room then!

take care.

eiilopez
02-27-2006, 04:11 PM
Yup C yard is not the only one...my husband is in the Gym and they are all in bunks there and they are all level 4. He says there are 160 men in the gym. I thought this was wierd because I was under the impression that all level three and fours were to be in cells.

queenbeas21
02-27-2006, 04:21 PM
El, that is way too odd for sure. Do they get to use the gym as a gym or is it just housing? I didn't even know there was a gym since all Ben ever talks about is the yard (meaning outside).

Take care.

Rodg
02-28-2006, 09:55 AM
In B unit the day room is being used as housing and getting phone calls is getting more difficult because of the number of guys housed there. B has 160 in the day room as well. When I was locked up in Ohio for three years it wasn't quite that bad but they did have cells doubled up, two guys in a cell meant for one. The federal government is supposed to be there monitoring over crowded prisons but they probably don't have the manpower.

Thought of moving to California and getting a job as a CO...danged felony conviction! They won't hire me!

I saw where the Mickey Stickers were getting removed...I ordered some postage stamps with my picture on them...then ordered some with a picture of the two of us from visiting...He's just howling at them! LOL

And finally LADIES...I sent a topless picture and it went through just fine (I'm sure the COs laughed at it though!) Hehehehehe

Rodg, you are killing me!! I'm here laughing. Did you have to cover your high beams with the topless photo? Hey mine cant be showing.

Also my bf said this is the first place he's been to where they take the gym away from them to house inmates. Now they have to play outside.

Also if they house them together like that, don't you think it is more dangerous? And things can get stolen from inmates by other inmates? Who wants to be on the top bunk? Can you imagine falling?

OK - back to the transferring of inmates. My husband is at Old Folsom and apparently saw the memo that all of the non-SN inmates would be moved to Mule Creek in May. This rumor has been floating around for years but apparently this is the first time it's been in writing. So here's my worry here - I know nothing of the visiting or how the buildings are at mule creek... but my thing is, I know it happens at other prisons, but what happens when you have Special Needs inmates and General Population in the same prison? Do they keep them separated? They Should. I'm a little worried what will happen when they move guys over there and that it might hit the fan if you know what I mean. My husbands never been at a prison where they have special needs yards so maybe you can let me know how that would work there?

eiilopez
03-01-2006, 11:07 AM
Good Morning Twopaw!! All SN are kept in seperate yards so you shouldn't have any worries. There are many prisons that have both general pop and SN. They are never together. It would defeat the purpose of this kind of yard if they had them together.
Visits get terminated all the time because there are so many people. Other than that it is an ok prison. Any other questoins feel free to ask!!

queenbeas21
03-01-2006, 06:31 PM
two, mule creek is relatively laid back compared to other prisons. anyone there is very happy to be there. my guy is a level 4 and in the eop program. currently residing in the hole, but i got news today that his cellie in the hole went to classification and asked about ben and they assured him ben was going back to a yard! yippeee! now the question is when because as of the 26th which is one of the letters i got today, he still hasn't received his report! so, depending on the level your man is, he should do just fine at mule creek.

good luck and catch up with us in mscp chat. we'd love to have you join our group.

take care.

mselizabeth07
03-01-2006, 06:47 PM
JJ he is probably on A yard a level 4 or one of the lucky ones on B yard that don't have to go.

Rodg
03-02-2006, 10:09 PM
I got reassurance from my guy today that he isn't going anywhere. He is in a program or actually he works which comes down to the same thing. I also asked his classification ... duh! Can you BELIEVE I didn't know it? He's a level 3 and on B yard so he won't be going anywhere! Mule creek IS a decent prison though it is difficult to use those two words at the same time!
