I am going to twin towers on wednesday. I remember when I was in city jail a few months ago, I could not get through to my husband because our phone was blocked? Does anyone know who I call -- I would like to get this taken care of before I go in so I can call when I get there. Thanks. :)
Also, is it the same price if I call a cell phone (as long as he is on free minutes?)?

Call Your Telephone Provider And They Will Give You The Information That You Need In Order To Remove The Block. As Far As Making Collect Calls To Cell Phones, Your Not Able To, The Only Way To Receive A Collect Call To A Cell Phone Is By Forwarding Your House Number To Your Cell Phone.

I feel like I'm an expert on collect calls from Twin Towers, so let me give you a couple of #'s to call. <Sorry - I'm just reading this late - I hope you get it before you go in>

Not knowing who your phone carrier is makes it a little harder for me to give you specifics but SBC controls all the payphones for Twin Towers, Men's Central Jail and most of the court house cells. Since I have MCI as my home carrier - and they <ironically> DO NOT handle collect calls from jail (only prisons!!), I had to set up a prepaid account with SBC for my collect calls from Twin Towers.
Also - you can buy the phone cards from "store" which is once a week, but they cost $10.40 and are worth about 20 minutes. You have to have $$ on your books to buy anything from store....
Hope this helps - and I hope I'm not too late in responding.....

when my son was at county it was hard for him to get to the phone. When he did it could be anytime of the day or night. I don't think they are aware at all of the time. No clock and it seemed like there was noise day or night so not sure when they sleep. He might have trouble getting through for this reason also.

Thanks everyone. I found the number to correctional billing services and I was able to set up a prepaid account since I had a broadband phone line (vonage)- I was also able to set one up to my husbands cell phone. So now the numbers are not blocked anymore.
I was supposed to go in yesterday, but everyone forgot that I needed a probation report before sentencing so I am back home for 2 weeks. I'm happy, but it has been an emotional roller coaster and I had already said goodbye to my family and friends. I just want to get this over with!!!
