there is no other country in the world as barbaric as america. we europeans are horrified at the numbers of people you lock away, why so many of your own people have thier freedom taken? so many teenagers, so many black men. how can you feel safe and/or support a country who kills so many of its own people in jails? china doesnt! the arab countries dont! no one comes near you for state murder and ridiculously LONBG prison sentences. what are u people doing to each other?

I hear you- and you are talking to the people who want to
change such atrocities! Many of us are just as disgusted as you are with the US criminal justice system. Change is coming; we will unite and make sure of it.

take care

How right you are...... We mainly have become complacent and have let this happen without realizing that it was happening. We have believed in the people who were governing us with no questions asked.

Then, We personally had to deal with the system and we found out the truth. We all have battles to fight but together, we can conquer and we will.....

We really do seem like a bunch of idiots don't we... There are some of us here who know the truth and are trying to educate others.

Thanks for your post.

Hope ya'll don't take this post wrong but I have to respectfully disagree with a few of the comments in this "thread".. First, yes.. This criminal justice system is out of control.. I have deep personal feelings with respects to that.. I've done time on something that should have been my right to have, according to the constitution, then I did over a year (plus) too long because my attorney didn't take a few miutes (after he took my 10 grand $$) to check the sentencing guidelines in regards to my case. Once the mistake was made.. He didn't want to fess up and they didn't want to let me back in court..
NEVERTHELESS.. I love this country AND I don't feel right agreeing or not commenting on it being without compare in Barbarianism.

I would especially like to focus on China and the Arab countries. In most all Arab countries if you commit a crime as simple (and usually non-violent) as theft you will often loose your hand the first go around.. continue in that line of work and it works very swiftly to your neck.. Often in summary executions and judgements..
As for China, the United Nations, European Union (?) and many other internetional governing bodies have condemned China for countless different types of human rights violations..
These often include killing their own (non-violent) Citizens for their beliefs in both public and even private venues.
I agree that many of these other countries do not have the prison population the United States has, nor the people on Death Row, but I have a feeling this is due to the simple fact that they are "taken out back" and executed.. There is little or NO media there to publicize it to the outside world or even others in their own countries.

As I said, DONT read me wrong.. I am AGAINST the death penalty and the lopsided judicial system that lands so many people on death row, not to mention convictions at a lower level but I can't agree that we are the most barbaric country in the world.. Not even in the criminal "in-justice" system we have here.

Just my opinion!

You are absolutely right --The United States is a great country-if I implied that I felt differently, iI certainly was not my intention. What I did intend to say is that in a country as great as ours, it is an atrocity some of the things that are going on in our criminal justice system, things that many of our citizens refuse to acknowledge and/or are totally apathetic about, and that needs to change.

But I am proud to be an American, always have been, and always will be.

Did not mean anything against our Country...... Only that we as people need to really take a look at some of the things going on here..... This happens everywhere... That is one of the reasons this country is so very great.... It's People!!!!! We have the right and ability to disagree with our leaders.... The Justice System is one of the things that I truly disagree with..... It is not what it was set up to be....It fails most who are involved with it. The Death Penalty needs a moritorium now.... We should never kill another human being .....
There are always reasons things happen. There is something good in each of us if we look hard enough.

No___We do have the greatest Country in the World. BUT
WE HAVE THE WORST JUSTICE SYSTEM...
