Anatomy of a Drug Craze

"Crack is the lowest rung on the nasty-dirty ladder now," says John Galea, who runs the Street Studies Unit for the state's Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. "Kids just don't think it's cool anymore. Even heroin addicts look down on crackheads now."

This is true even in prisons. Crackheads have a bad reputation for ripping off people, being the biggest bull s**ters, and the biggest players. They see opportunities where no one else does. Meth addicts come close but in prisons crackheads dont brag about doing crack, ever, because of the stigma attached to it.

That's very true, the last time my ex was in, he and his cellie got out about the same time. His cellie called me one day looking for my ex, I explained he was out on a week long crack binge. They had been cellmates for several years, and the cellie knew nothing of the ex's 15+ year crack addiction. It was the end of their friendship. My ex never uses on the inside because nobody has respect for crackaddicts.
