My good friend is going to be transfering to this unit in due time and I was wondering if anybody out there had any pointers or suggestions to make their transition easier. Anybody out there a former resident possibly who could advise about the local customs or pitfalls for that unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time in advance.

I am new to the Forum and don't want to say anything inappropriate but my girlfriend did some time at Mt. View and I have only one suggestion ... tell your friend to steer clear of the Asst Warden. I won't say her name but if your friend asks around, she'll find out easily enough who I am referring to.
This Asst Warden loves to turn minor cases (disciplinary violations) into major cases and has a real penchant for utilizing segregation and solitary confinement as a tool for punishment. She also isn't afraid to doctor files and twist the truth to make things look the way she wants them to look.
On the flip side, Mt. View is a smaller unit (it only holds about 700 women) and is more spread out than other units. The guards are, generally, friendly and I did enjoy speaking to the Sr. Warden on a few occasions.
Hope this info helps? Feel free to ask me any specific questions you might have via Private Message .....
