i was wondering if anyone has any info on family days at the NY facilities and what actually takes place. I have not taken my son since March and I am trying to find out if his father's facility is having one that I can bring him too. I am hoping that they have activities that the two of the can take part in 2gether this way me and his dad don't have to do too much talking being that we are not getting along right now. Any info on these types of events would be helpful.:)

Yanigirl, are you referring to the picnics that some prisons have?? if you go to the General support forum, under Hear to Hear you, I put up a post regarding my 1st time experience at a picnic/festival last weekend where my hunny is. I was told that they give the kids a gift bag filled with things to play with thier dad/family.We didn't get jack. My boys were bored out of thier mind. I can also tell you that the tickets have to be bought in advance (by the inmate). Have you asked your sons father about future family day dates??
Also now that it is summer, are you guys allowed regular outside visits?? they beat inside visits anyday!! you get to walk around and im not sure about all facilities but at gowanda they have a small play area. hope my info helped you out a bit.

Yes where he is you can go outside if the weather permits. I did read about your experience. Sorry the kids did not enjoy it. I thought it would be more for them to do. They should make it a little special.

Just because this prison festival sucked, I am sure they are all different. Hopefully if you make it one, you can tell us all of a better experience.
Find out from your son's father the dates and what activities will go on at each festival. They do have some that are better than others, as well as facilities that do better than others. Is there anyone else that visits and you would allow to take your son? That could be another option for you.
Good Luck! :)
