This article is courtesy of FedCURE (www.fedcure.org). It's about an inmate being slain at the Federal Medical Facility in Springfield, Missouri, but buried in the article is information about the facility losing its appeal about loss of its accreditation. And how day to day operations are going on as usual. Glad to see they working on improvements! Zelda

Oh my... this is one of the facilities we thought was a possibility for my husband to be sentenced. God does work in mysterious ways... we were sure it would be "better" because it was closer to home and near relatives... wow, so many emotions tumbling around right now, sorrow for that inmate's family, relief that my husband didn't end up there, anger at the system - any of you medical people know that JAHCO accredidation IS a big deal!!

Thanks for sharing this Zelda :)

Hello, I just thought I would add something. I live in Springfield. I have heard alot of negitive things about the Prison. I know 1 person that is there and he has done well while there. But, there are alot of ppl there that have nothing to lose, so like many prisons it is going to have it's violent activities. My fiance is in a level 5. Although he is not a lifer he is in with them. He has about 5 more years to go. I hope to find out more about the federal prison and let you guys know what I learn.

Why does this not surprise me. I thought I saw it all when an inmate was denied his pain medication by the facility doctor. When the inmate made a stink, the doctor's reply was "welcome to prison."
