Aloha all,

I have a quick question that hopefully somebody can help me with.
My wife was sentenced to 18 months in an FDC.
Her lawyer, probation officer and a family friend who has someone in prison all said she would serve about 9 months.
actually the probation officer told her she would probably do 9 months.
that's the same thing her friend said.
Her lawyer said, by the looks of things, she willprobably serve no more than 9 months. This all happened after the sentencing.
How is this possible? From what I have read, all of you have said that only 15 percent of your sentence can be deducted for good behavior. She is not a drug offender, so the RDAP would be out. Is it possible that she may do the other 9 months as home arrest? Or is that an entirely different thing? We have three children together, though I don't think that has anything to do with what they said. Also, I know the Lawyer and friend are not very reliable sources, but the probation officer?
any answers or comments are greatly appreciated.

Aloha, minus-one and welcome to the Hawaii Forum of PTO. I'm going to bump this up to the main Hawaii forum so that you can hopefully get more responses. I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you here, as my loved one was involved with the prison system on the state level. However, it's pretty scary I'm sure when you can't rely on your own lawyer for accurate information. I would THINK that the probation officer's info would be accurate but one never knows.

Good luck and I hope that someone will come along and answer your question.
