View Full Version : Taking too MANY classes?

Just need input here. I am registering tomorrow for our spring semester, which starts the 17th. Yay.
Anyway, I've been told that 18 credit hours, 6 classes are too much.

2 of these classes are what I consider *fluff*
PE-Ice Skating(for the physical education credit)
and Theatre 113(for the Arts credit)

One class is totally done on the computer, no homework, it's a self guided, self paced math course.

Then there's English 100, History 140, and Sociology 110. Not fluff courses.

Anyone else see this as a huge problem?

Are you working as well? Kids? How demanding is the rest of your life?

I, generally, for 2 years, carried 18-19 credits and worked at least two part time jobs, but I made sure I had enough fluff classes in there that I wouldn't go insane. :)

Not working, have 2 kids, both in school, though. Mother in law lives with us, and loves having the extra time with the boys. They (the academic advisement team...what a joke) thought it might be too much of a strain. Criminy. Do they not read the profiles sent in from Admissions? I have a fairly high IQ, get bored easily and love to be challenged. Oh well. NEXT semester, I WILL take the 18 credit MAXIMUM this idiotic college has imposed on all students.
I do like the *fluff* classes though. Where else can you get college credit for learning to ice skate???? lol

If the school didn't want you to take a maximum of 18 credits, maybe they should lower the maximum...;)

That was my thought. Cripes, no wonder it takes some people 6 years to get a bachelors there.

I don't see that as a problem, really. Especially since you have someone at home to help if you need it. Those basic courses shouldn't be a problem, not really.

If you were taking 300 level courses, then I could maybe see a problem, but oh well. Silly folks just don't want you to get your money's worth! ;)

That is the ammount I am taking, I am working casual and have 3 kids. I dont think I would have time to do more... but if you have a relative to help out with the kids yay go for it.
