Inmates suffer setbacks after release, study finds

Three out of four Ohio inmates recently surveyed had high hopes for a better life as they prepared for release from prison, but only about one-fifth of them had a job waiting at home.
Not surprisingly, more than half of those inmates committed crimes that sent them back to prison, according to a yearlong study by the Urban Institute, a nonprofit social and economic policy research organization in Washington, D.C.

Have you ever read the book, My Shadow Run Fast by Bill Sands? He was in San Quentin, and he explains this issue. He talks about how many times while in jail, they think when they get out, they are going to have great jobs, beautiful women, and fast cars. They go through a type of shock when they get out and realize so many obstacles are in their path. This is a wonderful book for anyone to read about how to help prisoners on the road to recovery.
