View Full Version : Pleasant Valley
eiilopez 01-09-2006, 05:59 PM My husband may be sent to Pleasant Valley. He paroled from there November 2004. I wanted to know if much has changed in the way of visiting. Can you still make an appt to visit before 10am.? I would only go if i had an appointment because I HATE waiting. It was hard to make an appointment but MUCH better than getting there really early and waiting forever.

qwerty 01-10-2006, 03:56 AM Yep, they still make appointments. The trick of course, is getting through on the phone lines. But hey, I just got one last week, miracle of miracles!
I hate waiting too... But if I don't get an appt., I just show up at noon and get my hour and a half to two hour visit without much waiting. It's not much time together but at least I don't go ballistic with the wait!
eiilopez 01-10-2006, 12:13 PM I know what you mean about going ballistic. I will never forget the first time I had to wait over three hours to see him. I was gonna lose it. I had waited over two hours to get in and then when I finally made it in it took another hour for him to come to the visiting room. When he came out I had my head down and I was gonna pull my hair out. I dont think he realized how frustrating it can be just to go see him for a couple of hours. I have waited and watched many times and things could be done A LOT more efficiently. Ok back to Pleasant Valley.....I started to count how many times they never answered or I was hung up on while trying to make an appointment, one time on one day I counted at least 15!!! I mean how hard is it to answer the phone!!
qwerty 01-11-2006, 04:02 AM Oooh, if I finally got thru to that appt. line and then they hung up on me, I would be going to prison soon enough!!! If he stays there, I guess I'll have to invest in a phone with auto-redial.
Anyway, hope things go smoother for you this time around. I have to say, as crazy as I get with visiting there, I will always be greatful we aren't back at Lancaster. PV is heaven for us in comparison.

eiilopez 01-12-2006, 06:05 PM Do you have the phone # and ext to call for an apointment?
This is number I had from before I dont think it has changed 559-935-4933.
Does anyone have any infomation on family visits at PVSP?
qwerty 01-13-2006, 03:11 AM Cheetoes -- It has changed, the # is now 559 935-3780.
You can only call Monday-Wed. from 11am to 1pm.
Sometimes they won't even answer at all on Tuesday but then low and behold, a couple weeks ago I actually got an appt. on a Wed! So you never know.
You better have a redial button or else. Also there have been MANY weeks that I did not get thru, no matter how fast I hit that redial thang!! Grrrrr.
But when you do get an appt, it's heaven... otherwise, it's the ol' Lancaster-style car lineup. Actually since mine is Close A and has to have count after 11, I stay a LOT saner by just showing up at noon and he's out visiting by 1. A short visit for sure -- but at least I didn't start at 6 am and end up wanting to hurt someone!!!!
Oh and welcome to PV! :D I have to share this -- last week, some one was microwaving popcorn and he said what I'm always thinking -- "Oh God, I can't stand that smell!!!" I knew right away what he meant... the smell of Lancaster LOL.
eiilopez -- Sorry, family visits I don't know, since he's a lifer. But I always walk by the apartments and they look so nice! Sometimes there's a happy couple in them waving at us as we walk by!
TakinItDaybyDay 01-13-2006, 08:26 PM I got the earliest visit there is for this weekend because we are getting married. Whoo Hoo. I get processed in at 8:30.
qwerty 01-14-2006, 12:48 AM Already??? Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Cheetoes1 01-15-2006, 06:05 PM Congrats Somerdawn!! :D
I haven't been in the car line for over a year now and I don't want to start again!! LOL :D Is there a time when the car line ends and you can just go up to processing? My husband is medium custudy, so he doesn't have to wait for count to be cleared.

luckyme1526 01-15-2006, 10:21 PM Hi,
Congrats Somerdawn! I'm assuming that by now you must be a married woman! Congrats again.
Cheetoes, I'm happy to say that I've always had an appointment when I go, but a friend of mine didn't, so we had to get in line with the cars at 5:00 a.m. and they started passing out the slips almost at 8:00 a.m.! Anyway, his Mom always gets there like at noon and she doesn't wait at all, just like Qwerty! =)

Cheetoes1 01-16-2006, 09:20 PM Does anyone know what the ext. # for Inmate Records is? I have been calling there all day and the phone system isn't putting me threw to the operater or Inmate records :(
So now I have no clue where my husband is housed!!
