Looking for my friend Doug Hamel,Army SGT sent to RCF- at FT Lewis I believe. I can't seem to get a hold of him, the phone and email from the RCFG website seem not to work. Any suggestions?

 I just phoned that number, they did answer- but they told me that
1. They couldn't confirm if he was there or not.
2. They couldn't give me contact info
3. Nor could they give him a message!

They did give me another # for I guess the counselors for the incarcerated soldiers and said I could try that. I'm going to try that....hope it works.

why don't you send him a letter it WILL get returned but at least he will have a chance to know you are trying to get in touch with him, because the way the mail there works is the inmate HAS to put your name and address on a list and THEN they can start getting mail it is really stupid to me but that is the way it works there. I have a son there and that is the way it works.they are VERY strick with the mail. HOPE THIS HELPS.
address the letter to your friend first name middle initial and last name
box 339536

I'm not sure, but I think the regs require the inmate identification number in the address. I don't know that all the facilities are as rigid as the USDB (the only one I have experience with) in their mail policies. For your sake, I hope not. It's possible they will get the mail to him anyway-after it is inspected, scanned for keywords and then approved for receipt. Good Luck! And let us know how it goes!

The RCF at Fort Lewis does not require identification numbers. Only the inmates rank, first name, middle initial and last name. I didn't have to start putting my husbands reg number on any of his mail until after he arrived at Fort Leavenworth. I didn't even know his reg number until then....

Thanks to you Erinanderson, Mikesmom, and DeNada,

I will write a letter. I hope it works. It's a sad story. I'm not sure, but I'd imagine he is an E1 today, I mean they must have reduced him on sentencing I assume from E5.
