Inmate Programs for East and West Side:
PIA: Glove factory, jacket line, knitting mill, laundry, shoe factory, silk screening, T-shirt line, specialty printing plant, textile products, NOMEX firefighting clothing, maintenance.
Vocational: Auto body repair, auto mechanics, computer repair, data processing, drafting, dry cleaning, electronics, landscaping, machine shop, sewing machine repair, shoe repair, small engine repair, upholstery, x-ray technology.
Academic: Adult Basic Education, High School/GED, Re-Entry, English as a Second Language, Literacy Program, Computer Assisted Education.
Other: Community Service Crews, Youth Diversion, Religious, Arts in Corrections, Victim Awareness, Drug and Alcohol Treatment/Diversion, Project Change, Alternate to Violence, Anger Management, Hospice, Criminal and Gangs Anonymous, Literacy Council, Personal Growth Seminar.
Special Note:
The CMC is the second institution in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to offer a hospice program to the inmate population. There are currently 26 volunteer inmates who completed the training program and are available to visit terminally ill inmates who are housed in the institution hospital. The training was developed and presented by local hospice staff, to closely match training offered to volunteers within the community. According to volunteer inmates and inmate recipients of hospice care, the program is of great value on both sides of this very critical issue.
