So with all the gun violence in Toronto in the last year, does anyone agree with the proposal to impose minimum sentences for gun crimes?
The idea of banning handguns seems ridiculous to me. It would likely work as well as the Gun Registry(sarcasm).
I'm thinking that anyone with an illegal handgun should do some jail time.
Comments?

All I know (or think) is that if they ban guns all together it will only increase underworld crime and gun running. It would be a big money making gift to the triads and the mafia to ban guns in Canada. Our border is massive and mostly unguarded, how on earth do they think they can possibly stop guns from entering Canada illegally. Banning them would be big business for the crime world and with guns comes everything else.
I agree that any crime with a firearm/or deadly weapon should have a more stricter punishment but dont we already have that as in unarmed crimes and armed crimes ?
The registry,,lol, yeah isnt it funny how most Canadians turn the mention of that into a joke line.

I think if you are caught with a handgun, bail should be denied. Specially if your out on bail or on parole or probation and it states no fire arms. I was shocked that the young man who was arrested not far from where I live was out on parole and there was a restriction of no fire arms but yet had in his possesion a 9mm ruger! HELLO!

Then he showed up back in court and is to reappear on January 12th. I feel if this young man gets bail again our city will litterly go nuts!

Cheers,

Lynne

you know, i think the manufacturers of guns and munitions should make bullets really expensive, like $5,000 for one bullet. that would solve the problem. just my two cents worth lol

Well you could start a petition. I would imagine you would get a lot of signatures from non-gun owners. If you do, send me a link and I will sign it.
