Alaska to consider lie detector tests for paroled sex offenders

JUNEAU, Alaska – An Alaska senator wants to give paroled sex offenders lie detector tests to combat what he calls a "growing epidemic" of sex-related crimes.
The state is launching a trial program at the end of January and has hired a contractor from Washington state to administer the tests.
Although they cannot be used in court, polygraph machines can help protect the public from predators, said Sen. Con Bunde, R-Anchorage.
