Ok ladies personal question for all of you willing to answer. How many of you have gotten a bikini wax? Is it as painful as I imagine it is? I hear they make you open your legs... hold em' back till you're almost in some weird pretzel position. There you are in your full exposed glory... and then it happens! I personally shave but I assume waxing lasts longer.

Why do I ask? Well look at my ticker.. need I say more? Who are the brave souls that have had it done? Tell me all about it!:p

I've had a brazilian wax done, it is uncomfortable and oh yes it hurts the first few times, but after a while I knew when to get in before it was too late lol....the pain last for about 5 minutes IF your waxer is good, I had one that well let's just say NEVER again with her. Anyways, the redness stays about 6 hours or did for me. Remember to moisturize a lot!!!!
it last a lot longer than shaving but not as long as you think either...

Claudia, I have to tell you although i have never got it done, just reading your thread has me cracking up. And i was looking at your ticker today, your really close girl. good job, you've stuck it out. I shave to, but the whole spread eagle thing that i've heard doesn't make it sound very appealing to me. Its like getting a papsmere just because you want to. lol

Okay I just went and had a brazilian bikini wax done and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I thing I was told was don't do it when you are going to be starting your period or anytime around that, and well what did I do I went the day before I started. I go to the spa that I get my massages done so it was done by somebody I know. As far as the postions it wasn't that bad. I think the postion for the gyno is worse.
As far as it lasting longer........to me it does, I use to shave every other day and well I haven't had to do a damn thing for a week.
Please feel free to ask any questions.

I've never had it done but have always been curious as to trying it. I'm just not comfortable with someone I don't even know being down there....ya know what I mean! :p Then to be in a spread eagle...preztel position....ugh!

Getting my eyebrows and upper lip waxed in painful for me so imagine my (beep beep) oh man...I think I'd pass out! LOL :p

Okay....I've ahd a brazilian wax done and I actually go on a regular basis. The very first time was the worst pain ever, but I didnt have to go back for 5 weeks and the second time was much much less painfull. As far as spread eagle pretzel positions....well yeah, my lady makes me get into these crazy positions just to make sure she waxes everything...I remember the first time I went in I had my leg all the way up to my chin and then I had to bend over and spread 'em. It was a little uncomfortable the first time, but if you find someone good she'll do her best to make you feel more comfortable. Now we're like old friends and getting naked in front of her is no big deal. But if you are gonna get it done do it at least a few days before he comes home, cause you might not want anything going on down there for at least a day. Oh!! and the first time grows back alot quicker than the second and third....and then you will barely have anything to worry about at all.
I hope this wasnt too much detail

Taking a couple of ibuprophen about half an hour beforehand helps prevent any swelling or irritation...if the waxer is good, it hurts for only a moment and the results are so worth it!

Just got back about half an hour ago from getting it done as a matter of fact. As you can also see from my ticker it is for a good reason.:D It does hurt but only while the hair is being ripped from your loins and after that it is nothing. If you are any where near the Valley area of Los Angeles there is a place called Pink Cheeks on Ventura Blvd. Cindy is WONDERFUL and even makes you feel comfortable. She does not do the pretzel thing but being up on all fours can be a little intimidating at first (if you get my drift). The first time I had it done (at another place) it was terrible, it took almost an hour and she talked too d@mn much but at Pink Cheeks once she gets started 15 minutes and you are in and out.

And BTW my husband LOVES IT!! It was actually a bet that I lost to him that I did it the first time and have been doing it for years. I feel free today so ask away if you need to know anything further.

And I am waaaaaaaay too excited about it!!! Hold on, I can remember when my ticker was at the point of yours and the time has FLOWN by!

If you are considering it give it a try at least once. If nothing else I am sure that your man will love it. Just don't let them take too much off the first time and get someone GOOD to do it. I am the research queen and did a lot prior to having it done. I went to New York shortly after having it done the first time and had heard about the "J" sisters (who are from Brazil) and visited their salon. The person that I talked to STRESSED having someone with lots of experience doing it! Good luck and be brave!!!!!

I have had one and it's hurts the first time, but since I had it done mo re then once It doesnt hurt. i think getting mye eyebrows waxed hurt more then bikini wax. I usually just do it when we go to the river in the summer.

Good luck, if you decide to get one :)

I have the Brazilian wax and at first it hurt a little, i have a high thresh hold for pain so it wasn't that bad. I pay about $55 every 5 to 6 weeks and it is so worth it. I don't get any bumps and i neve have to worry about accidently cutting anything down there, none of that stuff. I used to go to this little Asian shop where the lady that did it didn't speak any English so i wouldn't be embarassed but I found this place calle Whitewings and they are SOOOOO good, so if anybody is in San Jose go there, its worth it! And the positions to have it done, I've been in worse so it was nothing.

My Cousin had it done on Saturday (I asked her to so she could tell me how it went!) She said it did hurt but not as much as she thought it would. She is really happy with it and is definitely switching to waxing instead of shaving.

Im almost convinced on trying it... Questions though,

How long does it last before you need to go back?

Ok now lets just suppose that you have a hot date (which I do in March!):p How long before the date should I do it?

Im just afraid of being all irritated before all the action!!

Well girl.. you know what Im saying cuz you know Im gonna be raw as it is when he comes home.. dont need to add to it with the bikini wax! :D Ok what about this... A friend of mine got her eyebrows, and upper lip waxed right? Well let me tell you, she showed up to work the next day with burns! I didnt mean to laugh when I saw her, but Dang Lisa.. she looked liked Charlie Chaplin! with the burns on her eyebrows and lip! All she needed was a cigar! She was laughing so you know i was rolling! So If I do get it done, im gonna do my homework on the place!

What little tenderness I ever have after is gone in 8 to 12 hours....No problem, except that the slightly increased sensitivity is not always a bad thing;)

When I went for the first time it took me about a day or two before the irritation went away. But I think it is diffrent for everyone. I have never gotten anything waxed before so this was my first time, the gal that did mine said it would be a little bugged down there.......so if it where me doing it for the first time before my man came home i would say at least 3 or 4 days.
Take Care and good luck

Ok I have to say as a teenager (18) I wanted to get it done for summer- you know at the beach. I was too shy to go to a salon and did it at home. Never waxing before it was not quite what I expected. As I *R I P P E D* the material off without knowing you have to hold the skin down on the other side. The skin tore on the side for 1". I bleed heaps and thought I was going to die LOL. NEVER AGAIN. It all healed nornal ;) but I use a cream now... cream on, wait, wipe off. No pain... nice and smooth.

So you use a depilatory cream? What kind, maybe I'll tray that before I take the plunge!

I think that you have to be very aware of not letting things touch if you get my drift! As far as the Brazillian go a little under a week before that man comes home and everything will be fine! Or you can even try it out now and then be an old pro at it when he gets here. I was told that hair that is fine grows back quicker. I go about every two months (I should go more often) but that was then and this is now (I will have a standing appointment starting 6 weeks from last Friday):D . Try it and see for your self if you like it or not. Also be specific about how much you want removed. A Playboy at one place does not mean the same every where. This first salon I went to a Playboy meant EVERYTHING GONE!!! And at the Pink Cheeks it is a "V" as big or as small as you want it, but everything else is gone! Again if you are in the LA area or close to the Valley get them to fax you a menu so that you can be well versed when and if you decide to get it done. GO FOR IT Girl!!!!!

You should go and check it out.

In Europe I used Silkee which was by far the best. But in Australia I use Veet which is also good.

Amanda Pink Cheeks is what I was going to suggest. That is where I go. Please, for your first time let Cindy do it. You will absolutley love her. The wait is loooooong on Saturday so be prepared if that is when you choose to go. I have gone on weekday mornings and have been in and out in less than30 minutes. Call them and ask them to fax you a menu so that you will have an idea of what they call what and you will know what you want before you get there. You can ask Cindy ANYTHING so if you still have questions ask her she has been doing this a long time and knows what she is doing. Good luck and have fun with it. Like I said earlier I lost a bet with my husband and that is how I had it done the first time but now I am a fan and get it done now with out any prompting from him at all. I saw her on last Friday in anticipation of our big day on Thursday. The day you get it done is truly for show and tell not a hands on demonstration (if you get my drift) give yourself a day or two if you have something going on.

Mrs.L.............Thank you so much......I already got it ones and the gal did a good job. My husband comes home next year so this year I told myself I have to try new things to get ready for next year. I won't lie it did hurt a little the first time (went the day before my period, big no no) so I think that is why hurt so much.
I am going to call and ask them for their menu but do you know what their price range is?

Your tummy must be doing flips waiting for Thursday.....I know for me I can't believe he will be home next year, I don't know how I will be when I get to your spot!!!

Yes!! Flips is not the word for what my tummy is doing today!!!! I am soooooooooooo excited!

Their price range is from 40-47 I believe. It was cheaper than the place that I tried the first time. I do not know how much other places charge as I have only been to two places. And I do not know at which point I went in the month but it does hurt when ever I get it done but only while it is being RIPPED! After that I do not even take Tylenol or anything when I am done. When we did it as a "girls day" we did go the The Cheescake Factory down the street and sat at the bar for an hour or so!:D I went straight to work last Friday so maybe I am becoming an old pro at it!:)

Good luck to you!

I have had it done and it HURTS!!! I wax my eyebrows and lips all the time and I am totally used to it. The underneath part didnt hurt too bad, u know the part where u have to spread your legs!! But the top part, OMG. I would start doing it now because as u wax it less hair grown back. But it does hurt...taking the few motrin before is a great idea and I would do it at least like 2 or 3 days before he is home...

But Im gonna go for it and see if I could handle it. If I cant at least I can say I tried. So at 3:00pm , say a prayer for me!:D Even though Im sure God has more important issues than to make sure my bikini wax goes well! J/K!

LMAO! I was feeling your pain as I was reading this.
I have learned the most pain free method of waxing in school last cycle (cosmetology student).
I don't know if it was the wax we used or the way she showed us how to do it. But I let some guy in my class wax all the hair off my arm for practice, and it did not hurt one bit.
I am thinking about using the same method down south.
I'll let you all know how it goes.
