All the women here with loved ones at CMC are great! Now as far as directions to the prisons, it really depends where you are coming from. What city do you live in? Just some general info. the prison is located off Hwy 1 near the 101 freeway just half way point between San Francisco and Los Angeles. TO give you and idea, I live in San Jose and it takes me about 2 hours and 45 minutes to get there. The prison is located in San Luis Obispo, CA near Cal Poly Tech University. Visiting hours are from 9:00am - 4:00pm for all general poplulation inmates. You do not need to make an appointment for regular visiting. They do a number system. About 6am the cars for both the West side visiting and the East side visiting all line up in their own vehicles right off the street where the "Friends Outside" house in located. At about 7:30am the CO will come out and start handing out numbers. It's not a 1st come 1st serve basis therefore you can be the 1st car there and still get pass #50. It's basically like a lottery. Once you get your number you can wait in your car on prison grounds or leave and come back. At about 8:45am-9:00am all the visitors line up in front of the visiting gatehouse according to the number they have received. If you weren't able to get a number then you must line up behind everyone else that does have a number. They start processing the visitors in at 9:00am. During the process you must fill out a visitors slip and once you walk up to the desk where the computer is located you must show your valid CA either ID or Drivers License and the visitors slip you filled out. If you are bringing any children you must have the original birth certificate. If the children do not belong to you then you must provide the original birth certificate and a notorized letter from the parent giving you permission to tkae their child into the CMC prison. At this point you are allowed to purchase photo ducats. Inside the visiting room an inmate porter takes polaroid photos of people with the inmate. So if you would like to take photos with your loved one then you must purchase a photo ducat. He is allowed to take the photos you both took in the visiting room back with him and you are allowed to take them home as well. However each photo ducat is $2.00 and you are allowed to purchase a total of 10 ducats per visit. Here is a list of items that you are allowed to bring into your visit: $30 per adult and an addition $10 per child. (The money can only be in forms of $1 bill, quarters, dimes & nickles 10 family photos no larger than 5x7 1 packed of unwrapped kleenex tissue in a clear wrapper 1 key without a key ring attached a clear change purse without any handles up to 10 photo ducats 1comb or brush your ID or driver's license As for the dress code, here is a list of what you can not wear: tight or form fitting clothing no blue denim nothing that will set off the metal detector no underwire bras no flip flop shoes or shoes without a strap on the back no tan no blue no army green no tops or jackets with a hood (nothing with a hood) skirts & shorts must be no shorter than 2" above the knees no tank tops no transparent clothing no layering of clothing no sweatpants, sweatshirts or jogging suits Once you get into the visiting room you will give your pass to the office at the desk. The officer with then call on the speaker for the inmate. The call every 15 minutes until the inmate arrives. You are allowed a brief hug and kiss at the begininning and end of your visit with the inmate. There are new cameras in the visiting room so be very very careful girl as "big brother" is watching. You can purchase food such as pizza, burritos, hamburgers, salads, ice cream, chips, sodas, bottled water, candy bars, popcorn, buffalo wings, sandwiches, cookies, a variety of coffee's, etc... from the different vending machines inside. There are also microwaves to warm up the food. If the inmate is placed in "Administrative Segregation" or is not allowed Contact Visits for certain disciplinary reasons, then you will need to make an appointment for a Non-Contact visits. The non-contact visits are up to 2 hours in length and are behind the clear glass via telephone. The visiting times for non-contact are 9am, 11am or 1pm. Visiting for non-contact can be made up to 10 days in advance. You can make an appointment by calling (805) 547-7825 (Monday through Friday) between the hours of 9am-11am. If you need to contact the prison for any reason the phone number is (805) 547-7900. Hopefully I've covered as much as I could for you. However if you have more questions just feel free to ask...and again, welcome to our CMC FAMILY!!!!!! :grouphug: cysreese 01-04-2006, 07:36 PM Lisa, you go 007. :) spice209 01-04-2006, 09:52 PM Thank you so much for the info bob-bi-lu.
