My #1 worry is whether I will be allowed to be on my dad's phone call list or if they will allow me to visit. I don't know that I will ever see my dad again. I live in Oregon and he's in an Alabama prison. I am concerned they won't allow me to visit or talk to him on the phone. I have a felony theft conviction from 1992 and spent 10 days in the county jail and 6 years on probation. I still pay my monthly restitution of $50. It's a long story, and I'm sure you have all heard, they didn't do it. I am guilty of trusting in a man that was devious and deceitful. Will the prison system allow me to visit or phone? I will and am doing some searches to find the answers to my questions, but usually, folks know and will respond.

Thank you,
dzy

dzy,

to answer your question..yes on phone list, visitation will be if'y...i have a felon conviction dated back to late 80's and have never had a problem visiting my husband until he was trasfered to BIBB, and they denied me on his list, I had to write the warden and ask to be approved...which she (warden) did..i think it is going to depend of which facility he's at and the warden, but you can always do like i did and just don't take no for any answer, i wrote the warden and was approved...

Hello Denise. You know, open admission that I am a convicted felon is something I have never done before. I do understand the embarassment my dad feels about why he didn't tell us he was in prison. I would hope that there wouldn't be any problems getting aproval. My dad is 74 years old. They will have him for the rest of his life. I would hope they wouldn't allow his family to be appart of the life he has left. I haven't heard much about Fountain CF except that my dad is in a dorm with older men. He said he is working in the library. That's all he has told me of how things are for him. He said "Things aren't too bad here", so I'm hopeful at least that he's doing ok. Maggie, my stepmother, said he looks good.

dzydeb, my husband was in fountain years ago and he encountered no real problems, your dad can put you on his phone list and he will be able to call you and like Denise said if they deny you visitation because of your past go to the warden..

My husband is at Ventress and I have a felony from 8 years ago and I had no problem getting on his visiting list. Like every says do what you have to do and since you live out of state you should be able to get a special visit that has to be approved through the warden, but the best thing to do is call the facility he is at and ask to speak with someone over visiting and explain to them your situation and go from there. That will give you the best answers.
