View Full Version : Need help with relocating
Tereasa88 01-02-2006, 06:15 PM My daughter and I will be moving to VA in about 5-6 months so we can get things set up and ready for my husband to be released. I am just wondering if anyone can give me a heads up on newpapers in the Rockingham County area as I think that is where we will be heading somewhere around Timberville, Harrisonburg or something like that. I need to find a place to rent and check out the job market as well. Also I want to find a place that has a great school system for our daughter. Thanks for any help you might have!!:D
dwfighterva 01-02-2006, 07:28 PM I have used this link for news up there: http://www.newsleader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage
Looks like the apartment guides don't cover that area so the paper may be your best bet. As for the schools, VA sets them up on a county basis. The state has Standards of Learning that have to be met. Some are better than others. Rockingham County's website is: http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/ Do some legwork and find which schools are better. I know where I live, two schools, two miles apart, can mean a BIG difference in the SOL scores.
Holler if I can help answer any other questions. Good luck!!

Tereasa88 01-05-2006, 05:24 PM Thank you DP'sGirl. How is the cost of living there in Harrisonburg? As far as rent for a decent place and the job market goes?
Daveswife 01-05-2006, 06:10 PM I live in Martinsburg, WV which is about 1 1/2 or so from Staunton. It's a straight shot up 81. You may want to think about coming up to northern VA towards Winchester or even WV. Rent is not to bad here.
