I have never been to Avenal, so I don't have a clue what the area is like and am wondering what the potential for flooding is there?? Are they near any rivers that are flooding?

Regular flooding could be a concern. It has been raining there the last 24 hours and no "flash" floods have occurred. They are on flat land in a valley between 2 mountain ranges.

I checked the NOAA website and there is a flood watch for that area.

Flooding never has been problem although the water does pond on some of the yards after heavy downpours just like anywhere else.
BUT, the building do leak, several of them. Well that is how it was last year perhaps this is a new year and along with it new things are done. Hmmmm who am I kidding LOL

Buildings are still leaking and, the amount of rain has caused the drainage system to back up, including sewers, so, there are no showers for the time being, at least on 3 Yard.

Steves_girl/Nanoguy.....the roofs are leaking and they can't even shower, thats just swell!!! I pray that the rain for the most part is over for the year!!! All I could think about was the way the prisoners were left in New Orleans...

The roof's have been leaking since Steve got there but not badly, but still they do leak.
Showers are working on ALL yards, a few of the dorms in 3 yard though are only being allowed to be used X times of the day, but they are all working.
Some yards have no hot water or heat still.

My hubby is in yard 3 BLD#320 and he said that there is only hot water in the early AM about 6:30A, and it does not last long because everyone tries to shower at that time:( ...As for the heaters, he say's they do put them on:)
