I just found out some news about my childrens father. He was in Elmira and got transferred but his parents dont kno to where. All they said is that it is "shock" like a boot camp. He told me one time that it might be Lakeview but didnt think he would be able to go there because of the med's he is on..Are there other "shock" boot camp type jails in NY?

BabyStar,

It sounds like he was transfered from reception to shock reception. more than likely he was transfered to Lakeview because he was shock eligable. There is an infirmary on the grounds. If he has a medical condition which requires medication he will more than likely disqualifed and sent to another jail. I posted some information about Lakeview here (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1613248#post1613248)

There were a lot of questions above about close to home transfers. When the judge sentenced me part of the commitment papers was that I be placed close to home. I was more than 5 hours away from home for my whole time besides Downstate.

As stated above there is a Close to home transfer after 2 years in the same hub with good behavior. It's very hard to get close to NYC as everyone requests those hubs.

When your classifaction is changed from Max to Medium you're usually moved with in a month.

If I can help anyone else post back and let me know.

Good Luck,

Dan
