PrisonTalk is in need of people to moderate forums on this web site. We just opened this month so traffic flow is still picking up but once we begin to have a large number of visitors and post, I will have my hands real full.

What a "moderator" does is oversee their respective forum. They have the power to move, censor and adjust the direction of the posts and threads in their forum.
EXAMPLE: If the forum allows photographs of events or people, the moderator will often view these pictures prior to them being available to the general site visitors. (This keeps unotherized / unwanted material off the site - ie. porn&unrelated photos)
The Introductions & Stories forum is an example of one that allows you to upload a photo of yourself or a loved one. Since I am currently the Moderator for this forum, if you were to upload a photograph along with your post, I would be sent a message telling me that there is a new post by .....(poster's name) and there is a photograph waiting for me to authorize. After I view it and select "authorized", it will then be available for all to see.
Moderators will also let people know if they are "talking" outside the forums topic. They may chose to move the post and it's threads to the proper forum, or they may close the thread and post their own message with the reason the thread was closed - "This post/thread was off topic, please post similar messages in the ................... forum."

Forum visitors can also make suggestions to the moderator on modifying the forum, etc.

Basically, moderators help manage the discussion forums in this site once they become busy. I will always do my best to cover what I can but this site is a hobby and I still have to work. (if I didn't, it wouldn't be here!) So! If you would like to contribute a few minutes a day (or less) to our online community, please let me know! You may do this here or in a email.

Take care,
