Livinoac 12-27-2005, 01:15 AM He should be able to call soon. They can be there for quite awhile, it depends on how many people are waiting in line for training. After that they can be sent to one of several camps scattered over southern california. Camp life is way better for the inmate and for the visitor. Camp inmates usually do 35% time unless they have an 85% then they do 85%.
c's baby 12-27-2005, 04:28 PM It took my husband 8 months to get to camp.
He is a half timer. So, when he did (get to camp) he started doing 35%.
Not sure what determines when their training starts. I know of some that got there before him and started training after him.
As far as where they go . . . normally the Mexicans (from southern california) are placed in So. Ca camps. The Whites can go anywhere. I am not sure about the Blacks.
Yes, those that are doing 80 or 85% do not get a break in their time. Just the luxuary of living at a fire camp instead of really being locked up.

SCC Jamestown sends camp inmates regardless of race to camps in Central and Southern California. Susanville sends camp inmates to Northern California camps regardless of race.

Thanks. :) I wasn't aware they mixed southerner's and northerner's (mexican). Next time I will remember that. We were told even though our home is located in Northern California, he would probably be located down here. He is. (My husband is a Southsider).

hydrochick37 03-09-2007, 10:06 AM i was wondering, if your already in the system as an inmates visitor, are u in there forever or do u have to send in a form every time there sent to a differant prison?

From what I understand, it follows them after you have been approved, but every 24 months you have to re-apply.
KMFDM75 03-21-2007, 05:05 PM My husband got to Jamestown in November, and is finished with all his training and is just waiting to transfer out of there. He says, that right now, it is taking anywhere from four to sixteen weeks to get out of there. He did make mention that some races move out faster then others....why, i don't know...just the way it is i guess. My visiting application did not need to be renewed when i went to visit him last month, nor have i ever had to renew it in the four years i have been visiting him anywhere he has been :) Hope that helps!

If you dont have his location that is fine, they will find him. you can also call 209-984-5291 Selection Option 3 and then locate and inmate after hours and they should be able to tell you his housing cause the computers should be updated since its been two days. oh but wait a few hours ~ call at like 730-800 cause they are doing count right now and they wont tell you anything till count is over.
FYI if you go to the top of "other california prisons" there is a JAMESTOWN FORUM ~ there are lots of us there, and all the girls are VERY helpful. Even if you just need to vent , we are all very supportive ~ stop on by and introduce yourself to everyone. :D
