California Ride-Share/Carpooling

This will be a Sticky in all the CA forums to make it easier for you to obtain the information for your specific prison needs.
Please keep in mind that PTO in no way takes responsibility for your Ride-Share/Carpooling experiences. We know that we are all family here but there can always be persons that do not always follow the LAWS. It would be in your best interest to know as much about the person you are carpooling with as you would for someone else you get into a car with. This is not meant to scare anyone only to make you aware that we are on the WWW so you really don’t know who is behind that other computer.

I live in Riverside county, sometimes I travel with family members, but can still use the extra help with gas being that I pay all the gas expense. I am driving down on Sunday Jan 1st, 2006, I have an appointment at 9:45AM and plan on leaving when they stop visiting at about 3:00PM. I always drive back afterwards, so the ridesharing would be appreciated:) ANYONE INTERESTED??:idea:

I'd like to find someone to share travel expenses with.... going from No Calif to Avenal. I live in Orland which is 100 mi north of Sacramento. Can go for a day visit or for the weekend, I don't mind either way as long as I don't have to do all the driving (I get too worn out for the visit) -or- pay for everything (broke by the time I get home). Hoping someone is in the same situation and willing to try ride sharing. If you are thinking it is a scarey thought to ride with someone you don't know then you are thinking my thoughts also. I've got to try something though as my visits are getting to be fewer and fewer and I really need to see my son more often!

Yes that is very true. I am from Stockton Ca and have been carpooling for a very nice lady for the past year. If anyone else would like to carpool please let me know. I usually go about every 2 weeks but with the price of gas it gets extremely expensive. So if you would like to carpool or chat hit me back. Thanks..... Gigi

Ladies I had my first visit this last Saturday and it was awesome. I found service here on PTO and used them Saturday to get to Avenal. They were cheap and on time and best of all I didn't have to drive. Check them out. :thumbsup:

Ladies I know some of you have a hard time getting to see your loved one.:( I have stumbled across a bus that takes trips once a month straight to the prison and picks you up right after visiting for $60.00 round trip kids under 5 are free and youth are 45.00 . If the amount of people pick up they will start going every 2 weeks. :D If you would like the # PM me the next trip is on the 22nd.:thumbsup:

I am looking for someone to carpool with this Saturday and Sunday to Avenal. I would like to stay overnight on Saturday. I live in Santa Barbara let me know. Ok I have a dilemma that some of you already know about...

As you guys know I am moving Friday to Northern CA, hence, I will be driving a Rental Truck and visit along the way. I do not want to really drive the truck onto the property (or if that is even allowed?) so I dont know how I am going to visit if I dont have a car. I got Sunday (At least I think I do) covered, I just need to figure out how to get to the prison on Saturday.

okay, if you have a loved one @ Avenal & you're interested in carpooling (i would advise talking & getting acquainted with the person first of course). how about just listing the city you come from & how often you go maybe...
As for me:
San Diego & and I go up once per month for the weekend...

I live in San Diego (Clairemont to be exact) and visit once a month for the weekend. I carpool w/one other ASP wife and we leave Friday at 12:30 in the afternoon to beat LA traffic. We stay at the Kettleman City Best Western (the continental breakfast really comes in handy).

My next trip is planned for the 2nd week in February.

There has been a death in the family and I have to fly out to the East coast in a few hours. Is there a quick and easy way to cancel my reservations for this coming weekend? Ideally I would like to swap them for next weekend. Is that possible?

OMG Blu I am so sorry to hear that. The only way I know is to call the ,main visitng number and they are usually happy to note the cancellation.

Is there anyone coming from the bay area, for this weekend feb 17-18. I am going to visit my husband and it would be nice to share the trip with someone. I have no problem with renting the car and driving. I just want to share the cost of gas and maybe talk to someone, because it can be boring.

Sorry Big D's, that was from last year I just now go up and usually don't post when I'm going, since I have a few ummm CO's watching for me, (long story that some know) so I just go without saying anything and without drawing attention to myself.

Long story made short, I have written a few letters that have been published in the Fresno Bee and well it didn't make the place look very shining lol.... oh and some sent to the LA Times, and a few other papers lol .... all have been published and Oh yes, Sacramento received them as well :eek: they didn't think too kindly of me having a few issues printed lol. so now I lay low when I visit ... hope you can understand why.

I see the carpool section has been a little quiet. I'm sure there are people out there who would like to meet and / or car pool. I would strongly suggest that prior to carpooling you set a date/appt w/ the person and meet to see if you two would really feel comfortable together.

So far GOD has really blessed me w/ a few ladies at different prisons and it really helps when it comes to finances, having a child that needs someone else to play with (maybe) or just for the ride & company

Of course there are those who try to take advantage of others and that is where you have to be careful...do a little homework to make sure you all have something in common, smoking, drinking, snoring, watching sports all day on the tv, etc...

I live in San Jose, and I am looking for someone to ride with from the bay area. I will pay for half the gas. I am easy to get along with, and can chat with you during the whole trip, or keep my mouth shut and just relax, whatever you want. Please private message me if anyone can help me out.

:new: hi im Angel i dont know it you got any responses to the end of your request but here is the visit ph. # 1-559-386-0256 Mon Tue and Fri from 10am-1pm. it is normal for it to be continuously busy we just call and hang up and call back sounds a lil redundant? it is but our loved ones are worth it they need us, feel me? so anyway when you get in there you can sign up for 2 wks in advance only but sat and sun if you wish. oh yeah when you call it is only for the upcoming wknd..sorry so long but i remember the feelin. only been visiting since april 07 but learnin alot...GBU
