{skidding on her brakes} WHATCHA WANNA KNOW??? LOL

Ya'll hush, I may just help this one!!! LOL

Kenny'sgirl,
welcome to the ride of your life with the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles. If your loved one (we'll assume it's Kenny) has served at least 25% of his sentence and he is eligible, the Board will begin their pain-staking (slow as (&#$) on a stick) process of review. Normally, they begin to review an offender 6 months prior to eligibility, but the entire process can take from 4-8 months, depending on who you talk to! Have you checked the status line for his eligibility date and mandatory (projected release) out?

Here are some digits you WILL need:
Huntsville Records 936-437-6484
Huntsville Time 936-437-8780
TDCJ Parole INFO line 512-406-5202
Parole OMBUDSMAN OFFICE 512-406-5401

Texas Board Of Pardon/Paroles
P O Box 13401, Capital Station
Austin TX 78711

ANYWAY....now that we have that out of the way....You can do a couple of things that people CLAIM will help Kenny. You can get support letters to the board that they are SUPPOSED to read....You can also get parole packets that Kenny can fill out and submit to the board to help in his case. There are varying opionions thru out this forum on these methods....SUFFICE it to say though, it's COMPLETELY up to the board....and the decisions they make RARELY have any rhyme/reason. YOU may think he's the best candidate in the world for parole....the Board seems to find comfort in disagreeing.

If you do check the status line, and it tells you his projected release date, do not order caviar or champagne just yet. Any crime after 1996 lost the right to mandatory release. Used to be, if your good time+flat/work time=your sentence, THEY HAD TO LET YOU GO.....they still look at this, but release is STILL at the discretion of the board. Many offenders are serving their entire sentences...DAY FOR DAY.

I hope I have given you (and anyone else reading this) some starting points. PM me for more details, or if you have questions/need help with anything further!

I can't ever get through on these phone numbers. I emailed somebody at TDCJ and they told me that my son is still in review. Does that mean that he does not have a parole date yet?
He is suppose to parole out to his Dad's address. The appt is really small (a one bedroom) and not in a great neighborhood. Do you think this will effect anything? He doesn't have a job lined up either. He burned alot of bridges before he went in, if you know what I mean. We will have several support letters tho.
Thanks for any info.

Kim,

The parole status line is busy ALL the time...but I never have a problem with the others. Review can take 4-8 months....they will normally check the parole plan, and can do an onsite inspection to check out where your son intends to live......

they look at bascially 3 things...home, job, support system in place.....if you don't have an adequate plan in place, they CAN deny.....

I would suggest contacting the OMBUDSMAN or REVIEW/RELEASE 512-406-5812. Let me know if you need additional contacts!
