Does anyone know someone who's been to JobCorps? It looks like a good program. But is it? Please help.

One of my cousins went through them and it worked out GREAT for her. It was a great program overall and she got her RN ... and only had to pay (out of pocket) for the last year.

GO FOR IT!!!!

Well they accept people on parole so I told him it'd be worth a shot.

It was a good program. It worked out really well for my cousin. There was the early stage where it kinda sucked, but once you got past that point, it was smooth sailing...

GOOD IDEA!!

I attended Job Corp in 2002. The program itself has a good objective, but depending on what program you take will determine if it actually benefits you. I found that the clerical/office type program presented the most success for people there. And also the masonry and welding programs. There were many programs there that led people to dead end jobs. I personally did the clerical/office program, and I ended up fairing pretty well. I got a really good paying job in the hotel industry. Hope this helps some.

I heard the pay was lousy like $28. But considering that they provide you room and board plus a skill I say that's pretty good. Keep the info coming. Thanks.

Ms Jazzey1 the stipend is to assist you with inccidentials such as soap, deoderant, laundry supplies, etc. I went to Job Corps in 1979. I found it to be a good program. But like DarylsGirl said, you have to be selective with regard to the trade you choose. Also, it's very important to have the right mind set, stay focused on your goal, and not become so distracted with everything that's going on around you. Because let's be very honest, the same thing that's out here is in there just like any where else. I also noticed that males had a more difficult time than females. The males tended to get into fights more. I guess it's that top dog thing or something. But basically if you pick a trade that'll benefit you in the future with with regard to employment, stay focused on your goal(s), don't get distracted by what's going on around you, get past being homesick, and mind your business, you'll do fine. I wish you the best.

I think it helped him out alot..My Best friend went there as well & did very well.
