WELL, HELLO VA LISTEN TO THIS. SUNDAY AFTERNOON MY HUSBAND HURT HIS LEG PLAYING BASKETBALL, WELL, AFTER NOT BEING ABLE TO GET UP AND CALLED A P****Y BY THE GUARD, I FINALLY GOT A CALL FROM HIM AND ASKED ME TO CALL THE PRISON(SOUTHHAMPTON) WELL, HE FINALLY GOT TO SEE A NURSE AND SHE GAVE HIM A ICE PACK AND AN ASPRIN AND SENT HIM ON HIS WAY. IT TOOK ME TO CALL THERE 4 TIMES TO FINALLY AT 530AM TAKE HIM TO GET LOOKED AT.

WELL HE FINALLY GOT BACK TONIGHT AND CALLED ME ABOUT 9, THEY PUT HIM ON BED REST AND READY FOR THIS HE HAS TO WAIT 5 DAYS FOR THE X-RAYS RESULTS TO COME BACK TO THE PRISON. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?   I CALLED THE NURSE THERE TONIGHT AND FIRST SHE WAS A RUDE YOU KNOW WHAT, AND THEN I TOLD HER HE NEEDED AN MRI THERE COULD BE SOME LIGIMENTS DAMAGED. HE AND OTHER INMATES EVEN A GUARD GOT ON THE PHONE WITH ME AND SAID HIS FOOT IS REAL BAD:(
THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOME POLICY FOR THIS THROUGH THE DOC. ANYONE KNOW OF MEDICAL POLICIES? WHEN I ASKED THE NURSE SHE SAID WELL IT WAS HIS CHOICE TO PLAY SPORTS. NOT SURE ABOUT YOU ALL BUT LAST TIME I WENT TO AN ER THEY HAD XRAYS AND RESULTS WERE WITHIN MINUTES NOT DAYS. ANYONE THAT CAN HELP ME PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY. KARISSA_VA@YAHOO.COM THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LISTENING AND ALLOWING ME TO VENT. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Damn...I'm sorry you're going through this. I think ALL prisons only give the absolute minimum care to the inmates...not that this helps you in any way. I don't know what to tell you, but there's GOT to be someone you could go to! I'll do some research for you. If I come up with anything, I'll email you.

Im Sorry to hear that this is happeneing to your Husband, I only hope he gets better soon! Did he file a grievance? My pal up there said that he has to file greivances first and then see if they take care of it then, and if not go straight to the Medical Director at the prison. They always have a head there. Go to the Warden too, I went to the Warden once, and he took care of my issue. Good Luck! And let us know how things turn out.

I didn't find anything out for you Kari. I think ALL prison systems are set up so that most of the information is hard to get a hold of!
Let me know what's happening!

Hi all, well my husbands foot isnt any better, after days of me tormenting the nurse there and she kept saying "its a sprain" i finally took it upon myself and called the Doctor at the hospital where he works at. He was a doll, we spoke Tuesday afternoon and he made his rounds this AM at the prison and said OMG Justins foot is definately not just a sprain. He said that it is not broken, but a MRI is needed. He thinks severe damage to his tendons, and ligiments, etc. are badly damaged. He has never seen anything like it. So a big:thumbsup: to Dr Harris.

thanks for taking the time to feel my and his pain.

Good for you Kari!! Persistance pays off sometimes! Hopefully the Dr. will actually give him that MRI, instead of just saying he needs one and leave it at that. I can't wait until me and Gary are married so I can call the prison up and chew their butts out every now and again!

Take Care!

I am sorry to hear about all this. My guy is in with health issues and I have had to fight for him as well. So far I have had some luck. I can talk to one person and get help and then totally shutdown by the next person. Over the holiday was the worst since no one was working. Once he saw the doctor, he felt they were taking his health serious. It is the total feeling of helplessness that I can't handle. Can I just get a straight answer from someone?

I hope he gets the MRI and is on the road to recovery. Stay strong.
