Hello I'm new here. My man was moved to Parchman on November 9th 2005 (his birthday). His tentative date is 5-08-2006. I need any info on phone calls, visits, prison life, etc. He is in unit 29.

Hi CW. Welcome to PTO. That is sad that they moved him on his birthday, but at least he doesn't have long to go. His phone calls and visits will depend on his custody level and the building he is in since he is in 29. Do you know what day he visits?

Welcome to PTO and the Mississippi Forum!

Unit 29 is where I was housed at for almost 1 1/2 years. What building is he located at? They have buildings A-L, knowing this I can give you more info on what to expect etc.

For visitation information, I would suggest calling Parchman and asking for the visitation department. They can give you information, and let you know when he is eligible for visits. (

I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have about Parchman, and 29. Feel free to ask away!

29-G visits 1st & 3rd Saturday of every month if he is B custody.

If he is A custody, he will visit every Sunday except for the 5th Sunday.

You will have to be approved to visit, this normally takes two weeks to get done.
If you will call 662-745-6611 and ask for the visitation department, then they can tell you when it should be approved.

When you go to visit, you can not take in anything with you. No watch, no jewelry, etc. You can wear prescription eye wear, and a wedding band.

I believe that they allow you to purchase a canteen snack bag at the front. Maybe Amy or another member can fill you in on that! You will park your car, and wait in a check in line, you will be patted and searched. Then you are allowed to purchase the canteen bags, and are transported to the unit for visitation.

At Unit 29 they visit in the gymnasium.

You will be able to visit from 9am-2pm (I think that is the right time).

I hope that this helps some!

Hi, CW! My guy is also in Unit 29-G, he went there last week from Unit 32. He likes it there. He said they can be out and about from 6 a.m until 10:30. On Friday's and Saturday's they can be out until I think he said 1:30, so he was up late this past weekend. He said they have a T.V, and a microwave, so they can watch t.v all day if they want. The phones there suck. If you are on his phone list and he calls you the phone more than likely might cut out on you, just tell him to hit it against the wall and he should come back loud and clear. I haven't been to visit since he got moved last week, they messed up his visit list...go figure. He is definately happier in 29 than he was in 32. Oh and Unit 29-G is all field workers, so that is what he'll be doing. I hoped I helped a little bit. If you ever wanna talk about them being there you can PM me.
