I will be sentenced in Jan 06 to about a year in camp. I am 46 y/o and had braces put on my teeth to correct a physical problem (not cosmetic). I called the BOP and they have no problem with braces in a low security facility. I don't know if I am putting myself in a position for alot of invited harrassment, or if its just not a big deal. Its an huge hassle to remove them but I don't want to stand out either. This is probably a stupid question to most of you, I just want your opinion.

If I were you, my biggest concern would be that I didn't have access to an orthodotist while you're in. I can't imagine you coud go an entire year without having a wire break or something needing to be tightened or removed. I would talk to my ortho and ask them what the best thing for my mouth was, and go with that. Wish you the best!

I agree with one luv completly. Normally you do not have adequate access to any dentist, except in extreme cases. If it was me, I would have them removed before going in.
