Hi everyone! I'm Laurie and I was recently released from federal prison after serving 3 years of a 60 month sentence. I met Fed-X shortly after that and he introduced me to Prison Talk Online. I thought I would introduce myself and tell a little bit about how I ended up in prison.
About ten years ago I met a guy and we ended up moving in together. At first I didn't know that he sold drugs but eventualy he trusted me and told me about his business. Over the years he became more and more involved until one day the feds stepped in and arrested him. I hadn't been a part of his business but the feds thought I knew more that I did. He was sentenced to 135 months and after he was sent to prison they came and arrested me almost two years later! I never thought anything could happen to me because I was "just his girlfriend" but it turned out I was wrong! I didn't know anything about the conspiracy laws until I was indicted for them! After fighting the feds for two years on bond the inevitable was bound to happen... a prison sentence! Being in prison was the most awful experience of my life! I was put into an environment that I had never experienced before and never want to go back to again! I also found many women like myself in prison behind a man that sold drugs. The feds don't care about human lives they only want their numbers high! Many young women in this world today need to know about the conspiracy laws before it's to late like it was for me!!
I served 2 years at Federal Medical Center Carwell and 1 year at Federal Prison Camp Dublin. I was fortunate enough to be able to take the Drug Abuse Program and have some time taken off my sentence. I only have a few months left until I start probation and I will finally feel free! Even though I still have three years probation... I plan to do it right this time!!!

Hi Laurie
WOW what can I say. They arrested you 2 years later omg. Its like something out of a bad movie, my heart goes out to you.
Could you please explain to me how the probation works? You said you have a few months until it starts. Here it starts as soon as you leave the prison.
I look forward to taking to you and to knowing how you are getting along.

     This is wife of "PLACES OF REFUGE"- and I am sort of confused about how to do this. I am just now learning and my hubby isn't here yet and just got email, so I went in and it was about Laurie, and Beans Mom's posts, and so I read them, and I find your story absolutely amazing and apalling, Laurie! Horrible. It brings to mind that woman in Denver Lizel Alman, or something like that, who was handcuffed in a police car when her boyfriend shot a policeman, and she wasn't even invloved, but she's serving time anyway. What is this world's systems coming to? I thought we were supposed to be PROTECTED from crime, not hauled in by association. By the way I saw my husband's "you go, girl" and that doesn't even sound like something he'd say! If I manage to post this, he'll be surprised to see it. Anyway, best regards to everyone, and Laurie, you hang in there! (Guess that's the same as "you go girl). Trust Jesus, and stay close to him, and I guess you'll just have to accept the injustice of what's happened to you. Living today seems like it IS getting harder and more unfair. Guess that means we can be LOOKING UP, for it's kind of like prophetic predictions said things would get before His return.

Laurie, I just read your story and it brought chills. I met my husband after his jail terms for drugs, but unfortunately, he started to get into it again after we met, and married. I knew that he was into it again, but he wouldn't tell me anything so that I wouldn't get into trouble. He always told me that I would never get into trouble. All I had to do was just say I knew nothing about anything and he would take all the heat. Yes, I was naive enough to believe him. He is in prison now because of INS. Please tell me about these conspiracy laws. This may have a big decision on whether he comes back here or not. I have 2 children I am raising.....I can't leave them for being stupid.

Thanks
Joy
