My fiancee had pending charges for a bogus arrest before he got locked up in Oklahoma. We've been working with a public defender and we now have a deal on the table for 10 years suspended with supervised probation. Apparently, when Shahan is released from OK, we have to go for the official sentencing in AR. I am going crazy over a number of things.
1. We were told that Shahan could sign the deal they sent him but that it wasn't written in stone. Are they telling us that we could have worked this hard to take care of things only to AR change it's mind as soon as he's actually standing in front them?

2. If the deal goes according to plan, are we going to have to be under this "supervised probation" for the whole ten years? Not that I'm complaining (it's a heck of a lot better than actual prison time) but we wanted to get married, move to be near my graduate program, and start thinking about where we want to be when we have kids. I think I'll give myself an ulcer having to worry about a PO for that long!

3. If the probation gets switched at some point to unsupervised--what does that mean? I am at a loss because these terms sound self-explanatory, but I still have a million questions about each of them.
