Teen addicts give way to positive peer pressure

......Portage, which is based in Montreal, offers treatment for adults, teenagers and mothers with small children in nine residential centres in Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario. Founded in 1970, the organization works to create a support system for its residents, who usually stay for at least six months, and leaves the door open for relapsing clients to return — they consider it part of the treatment process. Beaconsfield’s centre, usually home to between 24 to 30 residents at a time, opened in Jan. 2001 and has treated about 300 teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18, according to Portage spokesman Colette Taylor.....
