Does anyone know if you can send gift baskets to Canadian Prisons? If so, where online can you purchase them from? When he was in the States I couldn't send him anything, but I was wondering if it is different here?

I asked ringo last night about sending him anything for Christmas - he said he wasn't allowed. Could be because he's not pen placed yet. Might be worth a phone call to the prison to ask directly.

As far as Im aware you can not do this to Canadian prisons. If anyone knows different please post about it. There may be an exception in lower security levels but I doubt it.

J is in minimum and even at the lower security levels this is not allowed unfortunetely. If you have visits at a minimum security institution you may be able to bring him a few small things. I don't know if it's "technically" allowed but as long as its not anything too big and nothing that could bring any harm they don't make an issue out of things.

For example, this year I brought J a wallet, his old i.d. that he wanted, some money of course in the wallet, a keychain, a Tim's travel mug for his coffee. And at our pfv I'm bringing him a hoodie for his birthday.

However minimum is a lot different and a lot more slack than medium and maximum institutions. A quick call to the institution can clear things up for you.

send money to be put in his acconut to be spent on extras like a case of pop or some special food drives, like chinese food sometimes(if they still do it ?)

in the min camps make sure you let them know, you don't want a pinch for smuggling and don't get carried away for example a nice plastic tims mug dosn't seem like much but is a big treat in the pen, fresh pics of the kids in sports or school are great !!!
