me and my man are not married but i was wondering if i could send him a ring to wear via a vendor? i have my ring that i wear and i wanted to send him the same one but in his size. now i know it cant go over $120 and it doesnt...but i just dont know if he can get it since we're not legally married. he can get other jewelry like a chain and cross if i send it right? so could he get a ring? now the ring is just like a wedding band and has no stones or nething...it's flat gold with our names in it. it's hard to explain so here's a pic of what it looks like. now it looks just like this one except it doesnt have a background...so it's just the gold lettering minus what u see in the back. neone know if he could get it or should i just call the facility? (he's in elmira by the way)

any help would be appreciated!! :D

from what I know about where I visit, you are not allowed designs. And there is a certain amount you are allowed to spend, and I am not sure they can have rings unless it is a wedding band. I will find out more for you.

There are rules to getting them rings. I would ask someone who goes to the prison you go to. where do you go?

Any info would be helpful to me also. I want to replace my hubby's wedding ring (we are legally married) since we "lost" ours before he went in. He's in Clinton.

Peace.....It is my understanding that religious pieces can be worn and wedding bands only for married inmates. You would want to check what the amount is. Blessings...

When I called the facility where my hubby is, the guidance department read me the doc directive that said only religious jewelry (and it had some other language liek and approvael by superintendent) and wedding rings (which they enter in as property). Now you know that each facility seems to modify the rules...so it wont; hurt to ask.

what is the amount allowed to spend on a wedding band?

When I got married, the allowed amount for the ring couldn't exceed $150.00. I didnt know rings couldn't have designs. I just thought no diamonds or stones. Good thing I got the plain gold band and no fancy stuff. I will replace his ring anyway when we renew our vows with a wedding when he comes home.

I was told $150. So I ask is that with or without tax? And they said to be safe make it with tax. But the day we had to have the rings, they never requested a receipt to make sure it was under that range. Also, others had rings with designs in them like filgre (sp?), and someone had a cross-etched in theirs. I do knwo they sepcifid no stones.

Where my man is {Pelican Bay} he can only wear a necklace or watch. I tried 2 send him a matching ring as mine, but they denied it. Unless we were married, which may b in the future, but as of now...nope....so hope this helps....

It all depends on the Facility where he is. I tried sending my boyfriend his wedding band, but the jail (Gowanda) found out we were not legally married and they didnt give it too him.

I've wondered the same thing. I've wanted to get my man a ring too. But I was just thinking of wearing it in at visit then letting him wear it in when I left. You think they'd take it from him if I did that? (we're not married)

I know that when my husband comes down to visit, he has to walk around with a permit for his ring. I don't think they just allow rings in like that but I would call up to the facility to find out.

Not sure how your prisons work but in California you have to be married and there has to be a documentation showing he's married and in order for him to have the ring or it is considered contraband.
