I Don't Know About Mid-state, But Marcy Isn't So Bad. The Waiting Time To Get Into The Visit Room Is Ok. As Long As You Get Your Number In The Trailer By 7am, You Will Be In The Visit Room By 8:30 - 9am. The Co's Don't Bother You Much. They Pretty Much Sit And Bullshit With Each Other. From What I Hear, There Aren't Much Better Places They Can Be.

My Boy Friend Is In Mid State. He's In S-block (solitary) So He Gets Night Visits. The Co's Are Aight. There Not Too Uptight. The Dress Code Is The Same As For Most Jails. The Snacks There Are Type Cheap. Pm Me For Anything.

Night visits? interesting, what are the times? is that only for S block?

The night visits are from 5-9. They are only for the s-block inmates. Most of the imates get regular table style visits. But if they are level 1 solitary it's through a partition.

My honey was in both... but only for the box. I know the box visiting wasn't bad at all so I am guessing regular pop isn't the worst.

GOOD LUCK! :)

I am wondering if anyone can give me details on Mid-State Correctional. I have a friend (penpal) in there , what does it mean he is in "the box" for another 9 months? He states he has a cellmate, so I don't think he means solitary. He has a total of 18 more months to go. What is Mid-State like? I know its a minimum, but, what is it "really" like? What is the visiting like? I saw the links, a few are older though. Can I visit if I have a criminal record myself? 2 misdemeanors, 1 felony that is sealed? Thanks so much for any help.

hi,

this is all I know...Good Luck!

Medium Male

Visitation Hours: Mid State is about 51/2 hours from nyc. Its o.k. the C.O.'s will get on your nerves. They want you to keep your legs under the table and hands on top of the table. The inmate can not go to the microwave to fix your food for you, you have to do it. the tell you where to sit- But ladies be careful on what you wear to this facility they are known for not allowing you to go on ur visit for something you have on. so keep it very casual.

Visits on weekends from 9 to 3 or 3:30.

Pretty laid back visit room as well as ouside area when the weather is nice.

Normal package room procedures apply as well as dress code.

FRP available: No

Number of prisoners:Opened: 1983, Capacity: 188 male (16+), Adult Correctional Institutions, Employees: 687, Cost of care: $46.45 per day

i go to mid-state...i have friend there. well if he's in the box then u can only go saturday nights 5p-9p visits. even when he's in the box there he can have a cell mate. visits for the box are ok. u sit at a square table with the inmate on one side and u on another. you can hold each other and kiss but keep it in check cause they will come over and say something. make sure u and ur friend keep your legs under the table and hands on top though...they'll (CO's) jump up quick and come to ur table to say something to u if u dont. u can go to the vending machines and get food and something to drink but the inmates have to stay seated. the only time they can get up is to go to the bathroom. oh! and make sure u bring quarters because the change machine runs out of them quick! if they're nice they'll open up the other room so people can get change, but if they dont then u better start asking other people!! lol. the CO's there are ok...i havent run into a problem yet. well i hope i helped. anything else just ask!

I'm pretty sure Elmira is where Matthew just got transferred from. Not sure why he was transferred. I try to avoid the subject of prison altogether and keep it light with him. He complains about the heat something fierce. I can tell he is very restless in there. Bless his heart.

i posted on the 1st page about s-block visits at mid-state.

now about Marcy:
my man is there and it's ok. the waiting to get into the visit is something horrible! i usually get there by 7 and dont get into the visit room till 10-10:30. BUT if i go late (say 11:30) i get in quick, no line, no waiting. crazy huh? well neways....the visits are ok - CO's usually walk around a lot and say things to the inmate quick if they see something they dont like (either come to the table or call them up to the desk). the inmates cant go up to get food or nething with u, they can only get up for pictures and to use the bathroom. usually the vendors for the machines come and fills them up twice during the visit. at that time NO ONE can go up to the machines. if u need change u can get it from the vendor after he's done, BUT he only changes $10 and up. for nething else he points u to the change machine. ummm.....visits usually end at 3, but they cut them short sometimes, depends on the CO. i think that's all for now, but if neone has questions feel free to PM me :)

Anybody took public transp. to a box visit at midstate? my rockhead hubby just got transferred there - can you tell i'm not happy about this night visit biz. What is that all about? I think he said Flamboyant - which i despise - will get me there.
Anyone know of anything else from the city?
What about packages? Books? this is not a tv facility i guess?

Thanks,
DB
