I am happy for you. Yes, I have heard that you need to let them know you are going to be there to pick up your loved one. They escort them to the car. Otherwise they put them on a bus. I have a question for you. Our son is there at SVSP and we have been trying to get through for an appointment. although he can have contact visits, do we still need an appointment or is that just so we can see him earlier. Do they still let you go in without an appointment if you are already approved and just show up and can go in at, say 10:00 a.m. or so? We haven't visited him there yet as he moved there from PVSP. On picking up, contact the release coordinator at SVSP and inform them of your plans, etc.

Hello Thanks for the info. In regards to your question, you do not need to make an appt to see him! If he is allowed contact visits and you have already been approved, you can just go on Sat or Sun. I do suggest however that you get there before 5:30am so that yiu can be in the front of the line to grab a number. They start calling numbers in groups of 20 at 8:30am. (1-20, 21-40 ect.) It takes about 30 min for them to call out the next 20 so you can imagine how long it would take if you were num 146. Hope I helped.
P.S: where are you coming from? I would love to see my man, but have no ride =< Im in the Bay Area, and my bday is 12/13. PLEASE contact me if you would like to share expences.
