Has anyone ever heard of a pro se motion for reconsideration of sentence? My friend wrote a simple note to the county his case was in requesting transcripts and the court or judge somehow has opened this motion completly unbeknownst to him! I found it while looking up his file at the courthouse a few months after it was on the docket! Does anyone have any info for us?? Any help greatly appreciated. We would love to be able to see the motion through...

yes, my hubby went up for that after he was sentenced. We were trying to fight the length of the sentence, but usually it has to be for more evidence or a mistake that was made during the trial.

vnv: how awesome that a judge would just do that! it certainly can't hurt to pursue it! i'm wondering if you could contact the judge or the judge's paralegal??? the legal system is like one gigantic maze, isn't it?!?!

I'm trying to get up the nerve tofile for transcripts but I have to get around a few obstacles. It might just be better if he did it himself.

I tried, actually the judge told me I could... all we had to do is write a letter to the judge asking him to reconsider the sentence... we did... he didn't, so it didn't work for us, but best of luck to you!
