I am supposed to be going on my first visit to see my husband at Ventress. Does anyone have decent directions from Birmingham? Or the shortest ones?

Can anyone give me the rules and tell me what time is best to get there? And maybe how long it takes from Birmingham to get there? All the typical questions.

here's the link to the DOC's directions, i've never been to ventress so can't help you with that, i was hoping that one of our members that have lovedones at ventress would come around and help you out here but with the holidays i'm sure everyone is busy busy...i also wanted to welcome to pto, its a pleasure to have you here.

most rules for doc are state wide, like: don't wear any white clothes, nothing too tight or too short, always wear complete set of undergarments (slip if wearing a dress)...poor Kenny hasn't seen me in anything but Jeans and t-shirts in 3 years..

It is in the middle of the "TWILIGHT ZONE"!!!! I got lost and had to ask this little old man watering his garden!! THey basically do the same as other prisons....you have to wait in your car in line outside to get in. So get there EARLY! And wear underwear!

The best advise I can give you is to go to MapQuest.com. The facility itself is in Clayton, Alabama. If you can get general directions to Clayton, the facility is really easy to find once you get there because the town is very small and there are signs everywhere.
