So, I took my mother to Carswell on Monday morning. She did a self-surrender so she had to be there by noon...
directions as follows:
we went from Fort Worth area and took highway 820 west, to I 30 east...we exited 182 north and followed the road around the mall, until we detoured at the Jack in the Box for some cheese and bacon potato wedges for mom and a coke-yum. There are a couple of signs that say "Fmc visitors center" we took that road to the little building on the right hand side... we then went in that building...it will say that it's the base's dmv, but it's the right place and mom had to surrender in front of all those people who are just there to get their tags. Make sure to bring your I.D. with you (mom didn't have hers and the guy made a big deal out of it, although she wasn't told to bring it)
The guy called the prison and had someone sent out to pick her up. It took about 45 minutes for someone to get there and the whole time we were waiting we were either in the car with the a/c on or out in the little smoking area. The woman that came to get her was really nice. we joked around for a few minutes before mom had to go... we watched her leave and then we left...
it was really simple- i was very unsure of what to expect.

But, that's it... I haven't talked to her yet. I'm not sure when she'll get to call or write to me. I'm sending her a soft cover bible and a soft, no-wire address book sometime soon, too.
She told me to post the minute I got home, but I was sooooo worn out that I just didn't have the energy until now. ;)
I don't know if she gave her email address or physical address to anyone but if you want to email her, her email is Plaza_Toni@yahoo.com and I'll print the emails and send them to her... I'd post the physicall address to carswell but it's in my car and my car isn't here at the moment.

Sara,

Your Mom is going to do fine, I know that you did not know what to expect. Linda, my partner, said, that in her opinion, (Linda's) you have already done the hardest part for you and your family. At least it was for her, but I did not self surrender I was taken out of the courtroom after sentencing and Linda had to watch.

I talked to Toni for several hours, last Saturday, she will be ok, I was impressed by her strength of spirit and heart and her sense of humor.

Did she tell you of the photograph she wants me to send her?

I could not believe that she wanted it! But, it showed me her spirit and sense of humor. I will send it, have to wait for it to come back from the photography shop. She also asked for photos of lighthouses, they will be on the way too.

I knew she was scared when I talked to her Saturday, rightfully so. But, she will be ok, and this will be over quickly. It won't seem like it, but she will be home, there will be days when it seems forever. But she will be home.

If you need to talk, vent, anything, as you know, PTO is a great place for support and encouragement.

I mailed a letter to you Mom yesterday, as I am sure many others, have already. She will have plenty of support and so will you and your family.

God Bless you, your Mom and family

Patti

(((HUGS)))

I know it must have been difficult, but I am glad you were with her. I was with my husband when the extradition van picked him up and though it was so very, very hard - I was glad to be there for him. God bless the both of you.

Sara, I am right here in the DFW metroplex area. If there is ever anything I can do just let me know. If she gets desperate for a visitor I would be happy to go see her.
