View Full Version : Need information on Mineral Wells pre-parole facility - Texas Prison
jazzychick24 11-22-2005, 01:18 PM Hello I'm new to this and my man was transfered to mineral wells pre-parole facility and I was wondering what is like there and what are the chances of him being paroled from there are? Also how far is mineral wells I'mjust really tryinig to get all the information that I can on this facility any information would help thank you
angieluvsjoel 11-23-2005, 10:26 PM hey girl...my boyfriend also just got transfer to mineral wells, i'm not sure where you are from but i live in houston and its about 6 and 1/2 hours away. I went last saturday to see my boyfriend at this place and it was actually quiet enjoyable if you go outside. from what i understand everyone gets paroled from mineral wells, i know my boyfriend comes home at the begining of july. if you want i can show you how to look up and see how much time your boyfriend has left and i can give u directions on how to get there. also you should know if he paroles from there he will be allowed to walk out the back gate of mineral wells, he won't have to go through the mess of huntsville. when i found out my man got transfered there i was so excited, did you know they get to wear "free world" clothes and they have pay phones....unfortunately the calls are almost $9 for 15 minutes
Gustavosgirl 11-28-2005, 11:34 AM Not everyone gets paroled from there I was under the same impression but my man just got a Dms from there. It seems that alot of the guys there are getting denied. He had a projected release date of 11-29-05 and he was set off until 11-01-06 we are hoping that he makes this next time but even if he doesn't he is at a good place because at least he can call and our visits are all contact. I lve about 45 minutes outside of Houston and it only takes me about 5 hours to get to Mineral wells. If you have any questions PM me and I can help you.

loving niece 11-28-2005, 12:30 PM Hi I am also new to this..if you please tell me how I can find out my uncle's parole date or status? Any help would be sooo appreciated!
Gustavosgirl 11-28-2005, 01:59 PM You could go to the TDCJ website and look him up on there or you could also call 936-295-6371 and get the automated system you will need his TDCJ#. I know there is an 800 number but I don't know it maybe someone else will come along that does. Hope this helps.

angieluvsjoel 11-28-2005, 04:42 PM Well, my man just got transfered out of Mineral Wells and was sent to LeBlanc...which I think is a PRTC. There are no phones and I'm not sure if there is contact visitation, but he's almost 4 hours closer to home! Good luck with Mineral Wells ladies.
whiteflower 11-30-2005, 09:33 PM I live about 45 minutes from Mineral Wells. I don't know anyone who is there, but I did visit the unit with my Penology class for a field trip about a year and a half ago. I don't know if they have done any improvements, but it is one of the most rundown of all the units, there is not a lot of modern things there. The structure is old and looks rundown. The guy that gave us the tour didn't even let us tour the whole facility, just the chapel, the visitation room, and some sort of classroom (the tour was like 2 hours long; these rooms weren't that big). Anyway to me it seemed like they were trying to hide something--like the shabby conditions inside.
Trulykath 12-02-2005, 09:20 PM Ladies, do a search on Mineral Wells in Texas....I have MULTIPLES posts on this place and will answer any questions I can. I visited there every weekend from May to September, 2003.

Question for Gustavosgirl - is your man in for DWI? I've been hearing the head of the parole division for this unit is part of MADD and won't grant DWI offenders parole. Has anyone else heard this? Is it Juanita Gonzalez? Thanks!
Gustavosgirl 01-05-2006, 04:46 PM No he is not in for DWI his was an assualt family violence case. And yes that Juanita Gonzlaes lady is on the board and it is a very difficult regionn to parole out of. We really thought that he had a chance at coming out and it was very disappointing when we got the DMS but at least he's at a place where he can call, wear free world clothes and also all the visits are contact. We are now getting ready for round three. If you have any other questions feel free to PM and I will try to answer them for you.

Hazel eyes - the Texas inmate locator (http://168.51.178.33/webapp/TDCJ/index2.htm) will tell you when he'll be ELIGIBLE for parole, not when he'll be getting OUT on parole. There is no website that I'm aware of that gives that information.
Gustavosgirl 10-05-2006, 10:23 AM Hazel eyes my boyfriend has been there since March of 2005 and I went to old navy.com and ordered his clothes through them. Also he can't have any shirts with blue or red on them. I made the mistake of sending my man a shirt that had a little blue on it and he had to send it back to me. Anything else I can help you with let me know.

slimdude 11-01-2006, 01:21 PM Hazel eyes I can tell you or anyone else anything they need to know about that place. I did 2 years in building 772. I'll check back for questions. Also, and i'm sorry to say, but it's not easy getting out of there. TDC farms us out to these private facilities and takes us off their count. Looks like we are paroled. They let the little men make money so to speak. Just ask anything and i'll answer. And you can always call Gatesville to see when your loved one is coming up for review. It's always 6 months after the last review, but they don't vote until a month before the projected release date.
Gustavosgirl 11-01-2006, 05:16 PM Really Slimdude my boyfriend has been there since March of 2005 and he is also in building 772. Maybe you know him... Today would have been the day I would have gone to pick him up but he got a DMS:( :( :( and won't be released until August 17, 2007.

corporater36 01-06-2007, 03:36 PM Hi all!
My husband just got transferred to the Mineral Wells unit and I am interested in any and all information anyone has on this unit. I live in Greenville texas which is 30 miles east of Dallas. Directions would be great too if anyone can help. Thanks!!

casey26 05-07-2007, 04:26 PM my husband just got moved to mineral wells and I was wondering if many people do get paroled from there because he seems to think they don't...
his projected release date is nov. 11, 2007 and his other release date is dec. of 2008...does anyone know someone that has gotten released on mandatory supervision from there?
vkhalili22 07-04-2007, 03:15 PM my boyfriend is presently at the holliday unit in huntsville, texas. he is expected to be placed at the mineral wells pre-parole release center soon. My question is that i have a couple traffic ticket warrants in dallas and i'm afraid to visit because i don't want to be booked in for my warrants. does anyone know if these jails check for traffic warrants? I used to visit at the dawson state jail in dallas with no problems.
Gustavosgirl 07-05-2007, 04:13 PM I had a warrant out of Harris County in 2005 for an unpaid traffic ticket and I went and saw my baby with no problems. The best thing that I could suggest would be to call the unit when he arrives and ask them b/c I think I saw something on here a while back that they may be changing their system. Their phone number is 940-325-6933. That way you know for sure.
Anna
KatyBee 07-05-2007, 06:13 PM I live in the area and I think if I were you I would try to take care of the tickets before you visit. You do NOT want to be a guest of our county jail. Good Luck!

Since u were there hopefully u can help me. At visitation when a person checks in, is their license checked for warrants, probation or parole?

I have been to Mineral Wells for visitation many many times over the last 14 months and I don't know for sure but I don't think they do. They are so busy there because visitation is like a mad house most of the time. I have watched the process and it looks like all they do is verify you are on their list and that your i.d. is not expired and then they put it in a little file box until your visit is over.
