View Full Version : 2004 conference
JodyAnnShaw 05-30-2003, 07:07 PM I don't mean to sound pushy or anything... but it seems like we'll start throwing around ideas of where to hold the next annual conference... but we never decide anything.
I just think it would be best if we could figure out something as soon as possible.
Has anyone started working towards this, or figured out how to go about deciding on where we're gonna have it?
Jodygirl
Hi ya Jody, I have not heard anything yet. Maybe that is why we are listing what state our loved on is in, that could be a start to find out where everyone is and how to have the best turnout. Love Barbara
JodyAnnShaw 05-31-2003, 10:09 AM oh, duh... I didn't even think about that Barbara! :)
Yea, you're probably right! I can just be impatient sometimes , LOL... but ya'll love me anyway! :)

Phil in Paris 05-31-2003, 10:18 AM Jody
Gosh !!! What are we gonna do with you ??? You always stomp your foot and cry and shout and pout !! :D :D
Love ya
Phil :)
lol jody, of course we love ya :)
bella 06-04-2003, 07:41 PM When this came up about a month ago I asked people to please post where they would like to see it happen. I can let you all know that since it was in Texas last year it will be some place else next year. We are highly considering the east coast since that will make it feasable for our european members to come. IF the east cost is where it ends up, the following year will be either the mid west or west coast and the next year which ever one is left. Did that make any sense, lol.
Makes sense to me Bella and sounds fair too...

Fed-X 08-20-2003, 09:57 PM We are getting into the groove for the 2004 National Conference. It will be held on the East Coast this year around March. At this point we still do not know where on the East Coast.. Someplace between New York City and Florida..
What I would like to know is who is definitely coming no matter where the conference is going to be held if the time/date works out for you. (Probably held in March, as long as it doesn't conflict with Spring Break)
Please post in this forum. If you are not sure, or cannot make it, please don't post.
Thanks!
David
Fed-X 08-20-2003, 09:58 PM Laurie and I will be there wherever it is held..
Freya 08-20-2003, 10:01 PM As much as I would love to attend, I am not up for such a long plane ride. I have a High School reunion on the West Coast next summer, so I guess I will make a point to start saving to attend PTO's 2005 Conference. I would still like to purchase one of Mrs. D's PTO Cookbooks!
Aloha,
Freya
Lysbeth 08-20-2003, 10:09 PM I am PRETTY sure I am coming no matter what. If it were to be south of the Mason-Dixon Line I'd probably change that answer to VERY sure, but in any case I am PROBABLY gonna try to make this one wherever it is! That wasn't too wishy-washy, was it...? :D
Fed-X 08-20-2003, 10:49 PM Where is Mason-Dixon? ;) I've heard it but never crossed it? Is it legal? Maybe that is why.. :p :p
Lysbeth 08-20-2003, 11:05 PM You are so, SO bad... :p
Uh oh, I just realized I'm probably going to have to explain the Mason-Dixon Line to Phil tomorrow... or I could just tell him it's a big secret that only Americans know... ;)
Phil in Paris 08-21-2003, 05:05 AM What is Mason Dixon ????? :p
Gosh David, it's hard to answer your question in August for next March !!! Let's say I am 99.99 % sure I will come no matter where. I'm no longer that sure I want it in Florida now that Joey was bitten by a spider, and that so many members PMd me those yuck links about those Floridian spiders !!
Anyway, I want to come, so I start saving. :)
Phil
If it falls during our Spring break at the college I can come otherwise I can't .....
Deb
mrsdragoness 08-21-2003, 05:36 AM I have already started my fund to go... I hope it will be in Florida so I can also visit my sisters and niece......hint, hint, hint. But where ever it is, I do plan to attend.
Sally
TATINEE 08-21-2003, 08:47 AM Yes sirree... assuming the date coincides with my spring break from school, I'll be there! I'm so excited! :D
I will be there just give me a place and time :) Love Barb
freshstart 08-21-2003, 09:05 AM Count me in...
How exciting..!!!
ALli
tebkrg 08-21-2003, 04:20 PM I am there! No excuses!
(Phil - bella lives there and is not eaten alive by the spiders - I go to Florida 2 or 3 times a year - never seen one yet! We will spray you with a special PTO spider repellant and you will be fine!)
Lysbeth 08-21-2003, 05:49 PM Dear Phil,
The Mason-Dixon Line is a line, much like the now-destroyed Berlin Wall was a wall, which separates the northern part of the eastern U.S. from the south, and is guarded by very large, hairy spiders with huge teeth from one end to the other. It is heavily guarded so that Yankees (Northerners) cannot cross that line into God's country (the South) just any old time they please. The spiders are especially fond of biting people with European blood as that is where they were native, before they were brought into the U.S. to guard this VERY important line. Crossing this line is only allowed on Mondays and Fridays but only in months that have a "R" in their name. Except on Thursdays, when anyone can cross because Thursdays are when the spiders sleep.
Now, aren't you glad you asked? And another good reason to have the conference in Florida or thereabouts! :p
Lys
mrsdragoness 08-21-2003, 06:03 PM Lys,
I'm laughing SO hard my sides are hurting....... tears are rolling, my glasses are fogged up and brb.....I gotta go potte' now. :D :D :D
Glad I plan on coming down south on a Thursday!!!
mrs. d
bella 08-21-2003, 09:45 PM Lynn,
In actuality the Mason Dixon line was created, just as the Berlin wall, to keep ya'll southerners from comming in to Yankee heaven. We didn't want you to think you could make our beautiful cities in to boring farm lands. See we figured that if we created this line "ya'll" would think it was something real, being that "ya'll" spend so much time in the sun and it has fried some of those brain cell. (JUST KIDDING I SWEAR!!!!)
Phil, as a true Yankee stuck in Flori-duh, crossing the Mason Dixon was the hardest thing I had to do.
See although the US is one county there is still a lot of argument about who is better the Yankees (northerners) or the Southerners. It all stems back to the Civil war.
Now, I think we all know what the truth is.
Lynn...I still Love ya and I'll let it slide that your from the south ;)
bella 08-21-2003, 09:46 PM I'll be at the conference (wearing my crown David ;)) and even though I stand Yankee true and proud, lol, I think Florida will probably be the best best $ wise.
Lysbeth 08-21-2003, 09:50 PM Aw Bella, I love the North, hee hee... I was just trying to confuse Phil! (shhhhhhhh!) :D
danielle 08-21-2003, 09:55 PM Lys - willing to carpool? :) Puhleeeeeeeze? Ha! Ha!
The Mason Dixon line was created so people would know the difference between God's country and the north. ;)
FriscoLady 08-21-2003, 11:45 PM Already mentioned this to the powers that be. Maybe just maybe, I will be allowed too, by our wonderful state. Keep your fingers crossed!
Lys, what about us westerners? Linda and I do live just south of the dreaded Mason Dixon Line, and we have seen those horrible spiders! Huge, mean, buggers! But, if in the unlikely event the conference is held north of the line, can I as a westerner (raised in California and a former West German) cross the line on other than a Thursday, without fear? ;)
Seriously, we have our fingers crossed for somewhere within a 100 miles of Lakeland, FL. Then we can stay with my parents. :)
Linda has another business conference in Orlando that month, as well, and I really want to see Dad and Mom, so this would work for us.
Oh, and Phil it is not the spiders you have to worry about, it is those tiny, yuchy, greeny frogs! They get all over everything in Lakeland!
Love You All,
Patti
PS: There is always Hampton Roads, right smack dab in the center of the east coast. We live on the beach. Thought I would put my sales pitch in :D
Though it does get a might cold in the bay in March.
Veronica 08-22-2003, 12:11 AM I would like to go to this one, no matter where it's being held. The only thing that would keep me back is the timing. But I think with enough notice to everyone I can work around that as well. I'd like to help out with the planning as well. I would also like to be able to bring my equipment for interviews. So count Cliff and I in. Can we make it in New York? I have family in Maine. he he
Sunnie 08-22-2003, 12:19 AM roflol!!! im not sure if I can go it de-PENDS, and by the way Mrs. D have you thought of getting some of them to have in stock in case you have to trot to the bathroom again.. I guess it wasn't thunder I heard here in California today, it was mrs. D jogging and phttttttttt. phtttttttting ( fanny burping ) her way to the potty.
And phil, it's not the spiders and green frogs you really don't have to worry about. It's those darn ducks that look just like platypuses that wait for foreigners to get off the airplane, and they multiply as they chase you through the terminal. have you not seen the move Attack of the killer Ducks?
But don't worry, we will save you from those meaaaaaan animals, you can stay with patti at her parents BUT you REALLY don't want to hear what is under each and every bed.
Cameo 08-22-2003, 01:39 PM I am there! No excuses!
I'm with you on that Teb! I fear the WRATH of those if we don't show up!!
I'd love to go to Florida;) My father lives in the Coral Springs area, next to Fort Lauderdale!! Ahhhhhh to relive the Spring Break era:D :D :D
Phil in Paris 08-22-2003, 02:13 PM Ha ha ha you're all crazy !!!! Thank you for the laugh, though, I'm at work laughing out loud !!!
Well, for a European, coming to this conference is rather like an Indiana Jones adventure !!! We must survive all those spiders frogs and ducks, and cross this damn Mason Dixon Line !! Well, I must check the airlines schedules to be sure I'll cross the line on a thursday !!!
I hope we'll have a lot of fun especially at night, since I won't be able to sleep knowing that all those spiders will be hidden somewhere. Yuck !!!!
Phil
beans_mom 08-22-2003, 02:37 PM I will be there no matter what.

bella 08-22-2003, 03:26 PM Danielle..I'll let that comment pass ;) LOL
FriscoLady 08-22-2003, 03:33 PM Phil, rolflol!
I just had this vision of you being chased through the Orlando Airport Terminal, by a bunch of killer ducks - quacking all the way! You attired in your Indiana Jones hat and leather coat!
Gee, Sunnie, why did you not tell Phil about what we keep under each and every bed? That is where we keep the pet gators, Phil. ;)
Patti
Monica Danielle, you are soooo right.
Anyway, how bout Texas? Texas is definetely God's country (if your not incarcerated. lol)
Phil in Paris 08-22-2003, 07:16 PM If I did understand well, this Mason Dixon line, separates the 21st century from the third world right ??
Which side is what ??? :p
Patti I WON'T sleep during my stay, I hate spiders, and I'm not quite sure I would love those frogs, ducks and pet gators !! Fried frogs legs or roasted ducks are yummy though !! :)
Phil
All I know is that the south is where you want to be. smile.
Hey Phil, how is Paris?
Phil in Paris 08-22-2003, 07:29 PM Paris is the nicest city in the world !!! Do I sound cocky ?? :D
Phil
Never been over to that neck of the woods. Just wondering how it is. Think it's worth checking it out?
Have you been to the US?
Guess this isn't the forum for all this, huh?

Now Bella, I think there is something - somewhere - about Admins misleading people.
We all know its the South.. Heck, my father was a Yank, and like any wise man, he moved South and never looked back.. I don't think there is any debate here at all.
(((SNICKER)))
Now, I call off-topic! So, nobody need respond! (LOL - Yeah Right!)

Fed-X 08-22-2003, 07:51 PM On a more serious note, all of you that will need to travel during Spring Break, please post your dates here so we can try and see what we are looking at. I am sure this will effect quite a many people..
Thanks!
TATINEE 08-22-2003, 08:42 PM My spring break is March 8-12 and I would have the weekend before and after, so my availability would be March 5-14th.
TxRenee 08-22-2003, 09:32 PM Fed,

Phil, I will rope all those spiders/ducks and frogs for ya hon :)
Can't wait to see you all

bella 08-22-2003, 10:52 PM I will not respond David...only because I will continue to allow "y'all" to convince yourselves.
Phil..Love ya!!! You got it right though heeeheee
Sunnie 08-22-2003, 11:10 PM Im not sure our schools have a real spring break, but weekends are good for me, leaving Friday night coming back Sunday I s'pose. By the way, can we bring children? or is it just for adults. My little guy's one-year birthday is on Friday March 26, what a party that would be!! lol just kidding
JamesGirl 08-23-2003, 01:00 PM I will be at the conference no matter where it would be! Fl,orida is a nice state however. Friscolady is right about Lakeland,Fl(I live there) there are many frogs.Lately these so called cuban tree frogs are everywhere during the evening hours. They are not dangerous just yucky in my opinion. Yvonne
Spring break at the college is March 20th thru March 28th.

To the PTO Conference, I will go! :)LOL
No matter where it is, I will definitely be there! (Though I like the idea of New York better... I've never been there and would love to see it)
Jodygirl
Fed-X 09-02-2003, 05:56 PM Alright.. We're still working on where exactly on the East Coast we are going to hold the 2004 National PTO Conference.. The two areas that I see at the moment as being the best venues are Florida and New York, BUT we need help and ideas..
The 2004 Conference will be on the Eastern Coast of the United States.. That doesn't mean it is going to be on the beach! Just on the Eastern Side.. So please don't post an area that isn't in this area.
Things to keep in mind are accessibility via airports and highways.. AFFORDABILITY.. Cost shouldn't be through the roof! I'd like to throw it in Manhattan but guess what.. It would be on the sidewalk at those prices.. The other factor is the proximity of members to the area.
All that being said.. Please make your suggestions and WHY you would like to see it there..
Thanks!
Fed-X
mrsdragoness 09-02-2003, 06:03 PM FLORIDA, FLORIDA, FLORIDA...
I want to see my sister!!!! Please folks.....remember me when deciding....I have a wONDERFUL sister in Ocala.....she may even give you a good deal on a house if you decide to move down there!!! :D
THINK WARM, WARM, WARM.... who wants to go to COLD DRAB New York when you can be in SUNNY WARM Florida!!!!!
mrs. d
Fed-X 09-02-2003, 06:06 PM Please be specific on cities in the State also.. Plus any positives about that city, and negatives if you wish to share them as well.
Thanks!
David
Cameo 09-02-2003, 06:08 PM As much as I would love to have it in the NY area, I think Florida would be the better choice and I bet with spring break going on through out March, there may be some good travel and hotel deals to get in on. I'd like to see it in the Ft. Lauderdale area/Coral Springs! (cause I'd get a free ticket..ha ha!!):D
FriscoLady 09-02-2003, 06:43 PM Fed-X,
We were hoping for Orlando or Tampa, I have to admit, I'm being a bit selfish here, because Lakeland where my parents live is almost right smack dab in the middle between the two cities. I hope to see Dad and Mom and we would probably stay with them. Plus, Linda has a conference in Orlando in March.
Everytime, I've flown into Orlando it has been fairly, easy, the airport is big, but not like Dallas/Ft. Worth. Access by highway is fairly good, I-4 is the access east to west and if I remember right you can come down I-75 to State Road 408 to get to Orlando, as well. I believe some other PTO members live in the area and can help on that.
I just checked the hotel (not motel) rates in Orlando and Tampa, they seem lower in Orlando.
We will be there, if we can, but, I put my vote in for Orlando.
Patti
freshstart 09-02-2003, 07:12 PM How about Baltimore.. you've got major airports as well as rail system that run through it...
The Harbor, national aquarium, Annapolis, Fells Point( great historic/club district)
Prices are reasonable... 40 from DC...
Alli
Cameo 09-02-2003, 07:24 PM Still trying to put my 2 cents on Fort Lauderdale. I'm doing a search on conference hotels in Fort Lauderdale and March and low spring break action...and I found this under one of my searches...'notice internet access in the lounge;)
Fort Lauderdale: Best Western Oceanside Inn: "Best Western Oceanside - Good Value" $69.00 per night
Reviewer: A TripAdvisor User, Boston, MA, March 30, 2003
I stayed for 4 nights at the Best Western Oceanside Inn. This hotel was a very good value for the price. It is right next to the Sheraton Yankee Clipper. It has about a two minute walk to the beach, which was less crowded and also wider than the beach closer to Beach Place and all that action. Rooms were a good size, although the bathrooms are tiny. Rooms are clean and daily housekeeping does a good job. There's a little lounge with a pool table and bar, as well as a cafe on the first floor. The pool is a good size with plenty of lounge chairs. Pool towels are available at the front desk. There is also internet access in the lobby. Complimentary breakfast is not really worth mentioning - just toast and muffins and juice and coffee. The clientele is a mix of spring breakers (it was never loud) and families with kids. The first night, we tried to walk to Las Olas Blvd. It is only 10-15 minutes to Las Olas, but the interesting downtown part of Las Olas takes about an hour to walk to. Recommend taking a taxi to go to Las Olas restaurants, Riverfront or Himmarshee area (about $8-10). Within walking distance of the hotel (10 min or less), there's a 7-11, a liquor store, the Int'l Swimming Hall of Fame, the Jungle Queen dock and some little cafes. The strip of souvenir shops along Ft. Lauderdale beach proper were about 15 minutes. We also ended up taking a bus to the Galleria mall. It's under renovation, and was totally dead when we went -- not really worth it. But the bus system is easy to use -- I think the #40 bus would've taken us back to the Oceanside. BTW, I had a very good experience with the Best Western customer reps - I never waited more than 2-3 rings before talking to a human being, and the reps helped me find the very best deals.
danielle 09-02-2003, 07:33 PM I spent a day or two in Pensacola this spring, and it was a great town as well. Just a thought - it's in the panhandle and close to the other southeastern states, including Texas.
For me there's pros to each--my sister lives on the Jersey/Penn/NY border area and I have a brother that lives in Orlando. I could have the option of staying with either or at the motel... Florida's a lot warmer and I love it there..... It's farther for me, but if the prices are better than that's good... For me, it more depends on when we have it.... Florida and warm and green and flowers when we will still have snow and ice here is AWESOME!
Deb
4MyJoe 09-02-2003, 10:15 PM What about Washington, DC...the nation's capital...where things happen.
It's right in the middle of the east coast. Wonderful sight-seeing opportunities.
Maybe we can go and give Bush a hug..... or a kick :-) Just jokin'.
MJ
Lysbeth 09-02-2003, 10:18 PM Well, I'd certainly go for (in no particular order): Atlanta, Destin, Panama City Beach, Pensacola, Tampa, Sarasota or Orlando... mainly 'cos they're within driving distance for me & Monica. Pammie's idea of Ft. Lauderdale sounds OK to me too, I reckon we'd have to fly instead but I wouldn't be too terribly averse to that one.
Of course I'd offer up Memphis or Nashville too even tho they're not terribly "coastal" or even near, but I certainly put Phil being able to see Joey easily and conveniently ahead of my easy drives... ;)
(But we do have casinos in Tunica, Mississippi!!!) :D
Fed-X 09-02-2003, 11:54 PM Keep them coming.. ;) Hotel and entertainment information is always a plus too! Helps do some of the leg work.. ;)
Whatever hotel we stay in should have ballrooms or meeting rooms.. Where we can hold our conference. Being somewhat close to the airport is also a plus but not requried.. Being close to the beach is also good for my blood, but maybe a bit too much of a distraction! :p
Cameo 09-03-2003, 12:06 AM Okay, here's another one, but it's 1 mile from the beach! The rate is $10 less than the other one I posted, though that is the rate now per room. A large conference room, plus group discounts so it could be even cheaper. Also, Miami airport is only 45 minutes away, but there is also the large Fort Lauderdale airport too which is 10 minutes away. So there are flight options:)
http://www.fairfieldinnflorida.com/
Keep them coming everyone ~ the more choices the more options to choose from!
Lysbeth 09-03-2003, 12:09 AM You know, there are women in thongs on beaches... and men in thongs on beaches... we might never see David OR Phil if we have the conference at the beach... :p
Phil in Paris 09-03-2003, 04:36 AM Men in thongs !!! YUCK !!!! I like them in boxers !!!
OK, well everybody knows I want it in Florida. The reason is very simple: Joey being on CM1 (and will still be in March :(), we are allowed only 2 hours non contact visit. Since I'm neither David Rockfeller nor Ivana Trump, I can't afford such a trip for only 2 hours. March will be our 2 years anniversary, and we'd love to celebrate together even for a 2 hours non contact. Always better than nothing, and we never met in person so far.
So if the conference is held in Florida, it will make sense for me to come. I will both attend the conference and visit Joey :)
To me the best would be in the Raiford area. It's close to Jacksonville. If I rent a car, I could be at the conference, then "escape" quickly to go visit Joey for 2 hours, then go back to the conference, crying and devastated and you will all comfort me and offer me strawberry daiquiris and tequila sunrises to dry my tears out. :D
Thank you
Phil
PS: someone will have to kill all those spiders, frogs and ducks before the conference !! :D
Fed-X 09-03-2003, 06:51 AM LOL Phil.. You make a hard case there my friend... ;)
MiamiChica22 09-03-2003, 06:57 AM Then I wouldn't have to drive. Seriously, if we went with South Florida (Miami Fort Lauderdale area). I would be happy to be of assistance regarding getting hotel/car rental/tourist information. Is a date planned? Because January-March is high $$ season, everyone wants to be here then.
I invite y'all to come on down and see what a real big cockroach looks like!! HA HA HA!!! Phil can stay with me!! Because I know he's harmless!!:D
Phil in Paris 09-03-2003, 07:29 AM LOL Miamichica !!! When you see me, you will be so sorry I'm harmless !!!!! Ooopppss !! That was cocky !! :D
Well, I don't know about this high season $$$$. I just had a look on flight tickets, and made a simulation.
If the conference is being held in March (for instance the week-end of 03/19th, our anniversary :)) the best company for me, is Northwest. Paris Jacksonvile via Detroit round trip, is 491,19 € ( about $ 510).
Then if I make a simulation for 04/08, this Northwest flight doesn't exist anymore ( ????), the first price is a Delta flight via New York JFK, and the price is 598,83 € ($610) !!!
So maybe this has to do with french holidays, I'll have to check.
Besides this Northwest flight takes a total of 13h09 while this expensive Delta one take 15h50 :(
Phil
Lysbeth 09-03-2003, 07:53 AM The drive between Orlando & Jacksonville's pretty decent... and Orlando's been mentioned many times... hmmm...
It's too bad we couldn't have it in Daytona Beach in March (too much spring break activity!!) 'cos that would be a real easy drive to Jacksonville... but what about in April? I'd certainly add Daytona to my list...
mrsdragoness 09-03-2003, 08:32 AM DAYTONA DURING BIKE WEEK :D :D :D
All those Harleys and the good looking men who ride them.
naw...forget it....I'd get lonesome for Mr. D :(
MRS. D
Fed-X 09-03-2003, 10:54 AM I'm hearing a LOT of Florida talk.. Nobody promoting the upper east coast? ;)
Amelia 09-03-2003, 11:16 AM As much as I would love to go back home to NY--Phil's story pulled at my heart strings and I think we should all consider his situation--HOW often will he be able to come to the US, I think it would be great for him to be able to visit Joey and be with all of us to share in his joy and comfort him also. So I vote for Florida. I just hope we decide soon because I am gonna have to save save save to get there!!!
My vote is for Florida for Phil!!! :D :D
TATINEE 09-03-2003, 09:52 PM I'm with Amelia. Even though I'll have to do some creative budgeting to afford a plane ticket in March because I'll be on vacation in Orlando in May, my vote is for Florida. I want Phil to be able to see Joey. :)
Even though I would LOVE to see Detroit as an option here, I know that ain't gonna happen! LOL
So, I am pulling for Phil too. Florida is great, AND, And, AND Phil, if you had a connecting flight here in Detroit, maybe I could jump on that plane with you and we could fly to Florida together!
My vote is Florida. :)
Phil in Paris 09-04-2003, 05:38 AM Wow !!! Amelia Tatinee and Jeni, you brought tears to my eyes !!! Really !!! Thank you !!! That's very sweet of you and once again thank you !!! I will print this out and send to Joey !! Thank you from both of us !! xoxo
Jeni, I would love to fly with you from Detroit !!! After this lonely transatlantic flight, I would love your company and someone to talk to, even someone with a strong Michigander accent !!! :D You could tell me the "Jeni and Robert saga" in direct live !! :)
Phil
TEEDEE20 09-04-2003, 06:27 AM If the conference is gonna be in the winter I vote for Florida, otherwise I vote for NYC!
Tammy:fb:
danielle 09-04-2003, 05:07 PM Gotta go with Phil on this one. :)
Since Lysbeth and I are going to ride together (and perhaps Mr. Wayne as well) or else Lys is going to hold my hand on the flight down - I'm open to anywhere in Florida.
freedom anjel 09-04-2003, 06:53 PM O.K., I like Florida. Anywhere in Florida. It's been so humid here in California this summer, I thought we were in Florida, or at least somewhere near Houston!!
Donc Phil, quand vous ętes dans Floride, le besoin pour savoir dire si vous avez une blatte au lit avec vous?? Quand il lance c'est la jambe par-dessus vous. ...LOL!!!
You'll need lots and lots and lots of strawberry daquiries. And don't forget the gators :)
Ivory 09-04-2003, 08:46 PM Although I'd like to see it in NYC, things are really expensive up here!
TxRenee 09-04-2003, 09:59 PM Ok I have to have my say so toooo :)
I say FLORIDA too :)
I don't care where ...we can camp out right next to Joeys prison for all I care :) I just want Phil to get to SEE Joey!!
I will be there I pray!! *HUGS*
sonnysgirl 09-05-2003, 12:23 AM Count me in!!!!!
jo_jo_ma 09-05-2003, 08:49 AM My choices: #1 - Hollywood/Ft Lauderdale #2 Atlanta #3 Stamford Ct. Mostly for selfish reasons (I'd have a place to stay & family there) but also because the weather is great that time of year in Atl & Ft.L, and not bad in Stamford which is a train ride from NYC.

mamawen 09-05-2003, 10:06 AM BTW...I'd love to come if y'all would have me. :)
I travel for work often, but if I don't have to go anywhere at that time, count me IN! Sounds like a blast.
Oh, and Phil, I'd much rather be in Paris anyday...well, expect during the summer...y'all get killed over there with that heat!
I was there in the summer of 2001...it was one of the most magical places I've ever seen. And the cafe au lait...can we just all say we died and went to heaven?

Amelia 09-05-2003, 11:36 AM I am definetly in, I have started saving and will drop my classes to come ...j/k. My spring break is March 8-12 with weekends bookending those dates but if this is a weekend thing I can come any time--a couple days from school won't mean much.....onyl thing I see stopping me from coming would be if Stephen is in fact released in March, then I will have to go pick his but up and spend alot of luvin time with him. But as long as it is either before or after his release then I am there!!!
Look foward to seeing you all again and meeting the rest of you!!!
Psssst----All you Southern Fried Chickens ain't got nuthin on us Yanks!!!!!

Lysbeth 09-05-2003, 08:02 PM Oh please don't let it be somewhere I have to fly... I don't want Monica breaking my hand with her death grip!!!! :p
Fed-X 09-05-2003, 08:03 PM You don't have to fly.. You could walk here.. If you had enough time.. ;)
Phil on the other hand is going to have to swim.. Sorry Philippe!
Lysbeth 09-05-2003, 08:06 PM Woohoo! :D

RaW-Raswifey 09-16-2003, 05:31 PM I think Florida is a grerat idea. I'm not going to lie... it is to my benefit. I'm nearly as broke as i could possibly be and i live ni south florida, so everyone who said Ft. Lauderdale, GOOD IDEAAA. :)
Fed-X 09-19-2003, 12:03 PM Please vote on which date would be best for you to come to the 2004 National PTO Conference in the Orlando, Florida area.
If you are not planning to come, please DO NOT vote. I will be monitoring who votes and if I feel you are not going to make it based on other posts you have or have not made, your vote will be deleted.
Thanks,
Fed-X
sodaigakko 09-19-2003, 12:10 PM a possibility that date, just a possibility
tebkrg 09-19-2003, 06:31 PM David - I voted for March 19th but am actually fine with any of the dates.
Lysbeth 09-19-2003, 07:04 PM I too voted for the 19th but I am fine with any of them EXCEPT the March 12th weekend....
Fed-X 09-19-2003, 07:12 PM I think Phil will be voting that date as well. ;)
~cheenna~ 09-19-2003, 07:24 PM I voted for the last possible date only because it gives me the most time to save for the trip ... but, really one or two weeks difference is not going to break me ... any date is fine ...
Phil in Paris 09-21-2003, 01:46 PM Yep yep yep, March 19th is Joey and I 2nd year Anniversary !! :) So I voted March 19.
I WILL come no matter what, but I'll prefer coming on March 19 :p
Phil
FriscoLady 09-21-2003, 02:50 PM Voted for March 19th. But, will be there on any date.
Have to put the paperwork in for travel and for vacation at work soon, though.
Patti
JamesGirl 09-21-2003, 05:30 PM I also voted March 19th as the 22nd will begin my Spring Break. But any weekend that you have in the poll will be ok with me. Yvonne
Phil in Paris 09-21-2003, 05:52 PM :) :) :)
Phil :)
rosepetal 09-21-2003, 07:57 PM March 19th is excellent! I plan to be in Florida for the month of March, so I'll just drive up to Orlando to attend.
Amelia 09-22-2003, 08:55 AM voted for the 19th for Phil but will be there any time!
LUVFRNKH 09-22-2003, 01:29 PM Fl. sounds good, but March? What about spring breakers, won't they be all over down there. I'm suggesting Charleston,SC or Savannah, Ga. Both beautiful places. Reasonable rates as far as travel, and lots of sites. Plus my grandfather works for US air in Savannah.... cheap flights.
TATINEE 09-22-2003, 03:17 PM I originally voted for the 12th, but I'm all for going the 19th since that's Joey and Phil's anniversary. :D I think I can work it out.
Cameo 09-22-2003, 03:57 PM I voted for the 19th!
Okay Phil...PLEASE untwist my arm now...the vote is IN!!! :haha: :haha:
FriscoLady 09-22-2003, 04:00 PM Ouch!
Pammie that had to hurt!
Phil, you can let go of her arm now.
;)
Patti
Phil in Paris 09-22-2003, 05:28 PM Ha ha ha you're all so cute sweet and funny!!! :D :D
I've decided to print out and send Joey everyday the new votes since he also hopes the conference will be on march 19th. This way he will also realize how humorous is my PTO family !! :D
OK Pammie, I let you go now !! :)
Phil
Slainte 09-22-2003, 06:17 PM I believe I can go anytime, but voted for the 19th for Phil and Joey... it'd be nice for them to be together for their anniversary! :)
sodaigakko 09-23-2003, 11:01 AM The way I see it, if it's on spring break then resources (cheap fare, available accomodations, and conference facilities) might be all the harder to get.
Slainte 09-23-2003, 07:26 PM So when do we get the results? I was looking at flights and they're pretty cheap....:)
Phil in Paris 09-25-2003, 03:23 AM DAVID !!!!!!! Shouldn't you close this poll and officially make an announcement that the next PTO conference will be held in Florida on March 19 20 21 ???
I can't wait to book my flight !!!! :)
Do you think I'm a real pain in the a$$ ??? :D
Phil
FriscoLady 09-25-2003, 03:29 AM Hey, Fed-X
I want to put in my papers for vacation. I'm with Phil! :)
Patti
B-Ray 09-25-2003, 03:10 PM Well I voted as a possible. The weekend of the 19th (if I'm still in the racing business) is a BIGGIE and about 1/4 of my yearly racing income.
But who knows by then? There has been some inquiries about buy the business.
angelheather 09-29-2003, 07:06 PM i voted for the middel of april that way i can sve up money and work something out for the kids
Bertsluv 09-30-2003, 07:09 AM Hi I am in Charlotte, North Carolina and would like to suggest the PTO come to our Southern State. We could show you some true blue southern hospitality. I am an Accountant of a Hotel here in Charlotte and would like to see if you all would be interested in bring it here. Not only is there this Hotel there are many others in the area. We are only about 10 miles from the Airport and I am sure my Sales people can negotiate a reasonable price for rooms. If it is a very large event we can use our rooms and more at other hotels. We are in the city and there is lots to do. We have our center city which is located in the downtown area. There are numerous restaurants and shops along the streets of downtown. I am not sure of the criteria of the PTO meeting but would like to discuss it with you if you are interested in bringing it to Charlotte.
Thanks for the consideration.
Shannon
bella 10-10-2003, 09:19 PM I am currently working with 4 different hotels to secure a deal...lowest price is the winner :D
They all know that I am working with other hotels as well. I told them to make them all more competative, heehee.
I would like everyone to keep in mind that securing a deal means that we (PTO) have to sign a written contract with them. That means the deposit left is non-refundable. When securing a bunch of rooms as well as a conference room (conference rooms run between $200-$300 per day) the deposit is a nice chunk of change. I want to make sure we get the best rates before any contract it signed. Another issue is high speed internet acess, this is a MUST this year! Last year it became very complicated but this year for sure we will have it in the conference room. David hopes to have a web-cam set up so all those who cannot attend can tune in from time to time..should be very cool. The rate at all of these hotels for high speed in the conference room is..well..outrageous! But I am negotiating as best I can.
With in the next week or so I should be able to post the cost for attendance. We expect that deposits will be needed by Jan. 15th and final payments by Feb. 15 but I'll give more details on that later.
Please remember the rates will be per room and not per person. So, if there are 4 in a room divide it by 4, 2 divide by 2, etc.
There can be a max of 4 people in a room and the rate will include 2 nights, use of the conference room and the conference attendance fee....there is so much to do and JDswifey and I have a TON in store for you all this year :D
I will update you all again as soon as I have some more detailed info.
CAN"T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!!
Slainte 10-11-2003, 05:05 PM Thanks for the update Bella! Will there be separate pricing if we don't stay at the hotel? I'm debating about bunking with the future in-laws. My guy says they'd be upset if I were in Orlando and didn't stay with them.... but I haven't decided yet.... :)
bella 10-11-2003, 06:31 PM humm should I answer a Boston fan,lol..sure since the Yanks just wooped them (just kidding)
There will be a seperate fee for attendance only at the conference. The deposit dates will be the same.
angelica916 10-11-2003, 08:07 PM :D BELLA
mrskendrick2you 10-16-2003, 07:14 PM Bella, are you close to having a price yet? Just very anxious... my money doesn't tend to last long, so please hurry! :D LOL.
Phil in Paris 10-22-2003, 07:36 PM Originally posted by bella

What you mean sweety ???? I'll be there 3 nights !!! Do you mean I'll spend one in Joey's cell ???? :D
Seriously, I'll be there 3 nights, on the 18th, 19th and 20th.
Phil
PS: Teb, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and I would prefer a room with a view on the sea.
bella 10-22-2003, 08:31 PM Phil, there are 3 nights for mod/supermods and admin. There are 2 nights for the actual conference.
Don't you wish you could spend a night in Joey's cell, lol
Tom and Brad will have to do with out a view of the sea, unfortunately Orlando is not on the water.:(
As for a general update we are still negotiating with hotels. I am trying hard to get us the best deal possible. I know that you all are anxious but please bear with me as we will not sign any contracts until we are sure we've gotten the bet deal possible.
Slainte 10-22-2003, 09:05 PM Okay... waiting patiently... saving money... waiting patiently... :D
bella 11-07-2003, 06:20 PM OK we have received a bunch of proposals and one of them is VERY promising. We are currently reviewing it and should have a decision with in the next few days. Once we sign a contract all of the details will be posted here. Sorry it is taking so long but again we want the best deal possible!!!
Can't wait to see you all there!!!
chrispro 11-07-2003, 09:12 PM it seems like still no hotel is decided yet. the airfare is high for that week from new york now. when will this be confirmed.
bella 11-08-2003, 04:07 PM There are 3 hotels that have submitted proposals. We are reviewing them and will make a decision as soon as we feel comfortable. Please keep in mind that by signing a contract PTO takes on the responsibility to pay for the entire thing. So, if something goes bad PTO will have to pay for it and lets all remember that PTO is NOT a business, there is no incomming $ accept donations. Those donations DO NOT cover things such as the conference they go strictly to the up keep of this site. The board is determined not to make a hasty decision but ensure that we get the best deal possible.
Slainte 12-03-2003, 07:45 PM Bella,
Have any decisions been made?
Jess

i'm another newbie. is there an agenda listed somewhere for the conference?
