Hi Flip456 Welcome to PTO, glad you found us. Kern Valley State Prison was activated on June 15, 2005 recieving level I MSF inmates. Over the following months it was activated yard by yard with level IV General Population Inmates, then SHU/ASU/PHU Inmates. As far as Gang Members, the state has had an increasinlgy difficult time managing the gang population, so the exact whereabouts of gang members are not directly known. They recently transfered some key players into the Federal System and subsequently moved around some other top guns to other prisons. KVSP would require and older experienced staff beofre they moved the real tough ones in so it's hard to say who got placed there with it being so new and all. RPinSD NancyP 03-03-2006, 02:59 AM Thanks so much for this information. This helps a lot. I know when mine moved, the requirements were quite some time without SHU terms or major infractions. they also moved some of the good, experienced COs from his former prison there. We all need all of hte information we can get on this prison as it is so new and so evolving. I actually get concerned with the staff on the huge inflow there. If I were staff, I wouldn't want to be there with all of their confusion. I do know that C yard is Sensitive Needs Yard there with many transfers from other prisons for this yard if this helps anyone. RonnieB 03-03-2006, 06:46 AM I would like to know how long does it take for an inmate to be in there system once they are transfered there. My loved one was transfered on tuesday night and he still isn't in kern valley's system. I want to send him some mail, his birthday is next week and I want to send some birthday cards. I also heard that they're not accepting certified mail, is this true or not. I am praying that things settle down there so my baby can get on with his program. Please continue posting all and every bit of information, its all been very helpful. This situation can make you feel so helpless and powerless which I don't like feeling. There must be something we could do to make this easier. Thanks, everyone---If no one told you today, let me tell you that YOU ARE GREAT! Ronni inalicesworld 03-03-2006, 05:00 PM I spoke to the mailroom person this morning about the certified mail issue again; he said it is an "operational" issue they had and until they get it straightened out, just send normal mail. my husband did call this morning and he is getting his mail now in about 3-5 days. you hsould be able to find him in the system by now; have you called records direct? 661.721.5571 usually it only takes a day-2 days for him to be there for them to give you his mailing address. hope this helps :) I would like to know how long does it take for an inmate to be in there system once they are transfered there. Ronni MaraBlue 03-03-2006, 10:28 PM I'm also looking for the correct mailing address for Kern Valley State prison. I saw in a different thread (which is now closed, so I can't ask a question there) the address listed as: KVSP PO Box 5101 Delano, CA 93216 The address my son (the inmate) sent us is: KVSP (housing # goes here) PO Box 5103 Delano, CA 93216 Even though Delano is a small town, I'm concerned mail might be refused if it has the wrong address on it. Are both PO Boxes correct, and if not which IS correct? KVSP has NO website and we've been unable to locate any phone number for it. I'm still searching through all the threads here looking for information, but if anyone could reply I'd appreciate it. RonnieB 03-04-2006, 12:14 AM UPDATE: My baby is finally in KVSP system. So, I rec'd his housing info and sent his letters and cards. Hopefully, he will be ot of orientaion soon and maybe I will get a phone call soon. Thanks everyone for your input! kmama61 03-04-2006, 01:31 PM Hi MaraBlue, my loved one is in C yard and his address is: Inmate Name (CDC# - housing#) P.O. Box 5103 Delano, CA 93216 From what I read elsewhere, each yard has a separate P.O. Box. Hope this helps. I'm also looking for the correct mailing address for Kern Valley State prison.
