My boyfriend was picked up by TX on a blue warrant. The county jail here in Indiana held him for about 15 days before TX picked him up.

The charges are from 1991 (agg poss of marijuana - got 2 years probation on a technicality) and 1992 (Burglary of Habitation). He served 2 years of 7 on the probation violation / burglary charge and was paroled in 1995.

He saw his probation officer once and then left the state without permission and moved to Indiana. He made this move to escape the drugs, etc. which were bringing him down. He has led a completely clean life here.... no encounters with the police, steady job (it is waiting for him when he returns) and has always paid his child support, etc. on time.

I think he is being taken the the Harris County Jail. Does anyone have any information on the jail?

The attorney we've hired is name Ned Barnett - out of Houston. We will be paying him about $10,000 to fight this. Anyone ever heard of him?

Hey, I am sorry to tell you the Harris County Jail is almost the worst place you can be right now. Its extrememely overcrowded, very noisy and just an awful place to be. Do you have a phone where he can call you collect because inmates do have access to phones. Also commissarry prices are very high. I don't know anything about your lawyer but can tell you that if he left Texas while on probation , they get very angry about that. For example a friend of mine was on probation for a dwi and just stopped going to probation, finally they cuaght him and he ended up with a 8yr. TDC sentence. Also, and this is important**** ALOT of things depend on what court he ends up in and what judge ect. Some are good and fair and some are horrible judges. I wish you and him the best. I myself spent 6 months in that jail and never again would I wish that on anyone even for one day.That jail does not even have any windows to see out.

Welcome to PTO. It's possible that he could catch a break and be set free if he's been clean all this time. He's done enough street time to discharge his sentence. I don't know anything about the lawyer but he must be good if he's charging that much. Unfortunately, this is Texas and they love to violate parolees even for the lamest of reasons. Keeps the prisons full and gives them an excuse to keep expanding. I hate to be the bearer of negative news, but be prepared for the worst. They can take all of his street time and he'll still have 5 years left to do. My best to you. Good luck.

Hello and welcome to PTO. Harris county jail is a zoo that is over crowded. I think I have a commissary list from last year some where, my son was there for a few months. My son did say that it was a relief to hit TDCJ. There are actually 3 harris county jails so check to see which one he is at before you write to him. If he board certified you can check their website, Houston Bar Ass or the Harris County Bar Ass, I am sure they have information on one of those about him if he is that good. When dealing with the Justice System in Texas you need to learn to always "Hope for the best, but expect the worst". My husband was picked up in Mississippi for violating parole by leaving Texas without permission. He also had not been in any trouble at all from the moment he left. We also thought this would all be over quickly - even his attorney thought so! - but he is half way through with a 5 year sentence now! I do hope it works out differently for yall!

Best of luck to you. My son spent time in Harris County and he said it was a big relief when he went to TDCJ. Harris County is overcrowded, loud, expensive and the guards are pretty rude. They will however allow the inmates access to the phones everyday. Also I hope that you get a fair judge.

Harris county is a s***hole, I hear its probably one of the worst you can go to. I have a few months here and there in Harris county, cant really compare it to any other because its all I know. The deputies and jailors are mostly pricks, it is over crowded, and the noise level is horrible. I am about to be going back to go to New Choices, a drug abuse treatment program located inside the Central jail, I hope all goes well.

In Tx he left the state and absconded. In the judges eye he will be viewed as not good under supervision. Im sorry to say but only GOD can help him by interceding. Im sorry to say but what is your lawyer going to fight? Either he left or he didnt and they frown upon absconders. Just telling you the truth................

I agree with all the above harris county jail is a big time s***hole, the judges don't always care about what happened to you in the past, etc. The judge will laugh in my face if I bring in any kind of hospital papers, etc to try to lessen her case, no amount of money or paper is gonna get a judge to lighten anything up!

The guards, nice, ROFLMAO, please one of the guards does not like me and has been a umm you know to my friend, not always giving me the full 20 min visits they are allowed.

Truth be told hun and it sucks, he is gonna go to jail or prison no matter how much you pay or how hard you fight, cuz of the judge, my boo is going to SAFP no matter what and I have to face that and so does she.

My gal did the same thing. She left the state and her probation was revoked. Smith County said she didn't have permission and they didn't know where she was .... but her address on the Smith County website is listed as my old one in Greensboro, NC. Now how in the hell did Smith Co. know that if they didn't know where she was? She came back to Texas on her own and turned herself in....produced plenty of clean drug tests she had paid for on her own, and was still revoked and given 10 years.

Thats Texas and Harris county judges for ya!

Bite your tongues!! My son lives in the Harris County jail ZOO and has made a home there for himself. he has been in his cell block longer then any other inmate. I visit so much that it is starting to feel like my second home now. I can't smell the bad odor any more, guess I have gotten used to it and I know everyone by name. Not the best place to be but also not the worse place either. He close to home, doing well and is safe for now.
