I just thought that I would start a specific thread re: CCI. Here you can post info re: family visits, normal visiting, lockdown, complaints, and praise toward the institution! Mu husband just got transfered there and I am always looking for info regarding CCI, so I thought it would make it easier if we all posted here. That way we dont have to search so far. I have a friend that visits at CCI too and which is the best motel to stay at and what are the prices? She drives from Tulare that is near Fresno. I think her man is on 4A. It would be nice if she could find someone to share a ride with from down here up to CCI. Have a great visit!

I live in San Diego thats not close to Tulare. The cheapest motel I found and stayed at this past weekend was motel 6 in Mojave. Its 32.00 if you book it on line and its avout 20-25 min away from the prison. It was nice and not that far away so I was comfortable with that!!!

Oh my gosh i am so happy that u started this thread!!! I've been posting in a few other places for Tehachapi info and got a couple things but this will be a lot more effective. My friend is in the process of getting transfered from Jamestown to CCI right now. In fact i havent gotten a letter back from him in a bit so he might have already been transfered! Im not sure--this week has been kinda stressful with all that. Anyways i heard that visitations and the c.o.s arent really that cool there but im sure it depends on where he is at too. Mine is unfortunatly in ad-seg so who knows what thats going to be like there! If anyone has any additional info on the hole at CCI or general info. it would be greatly appriciated...p.s. how did ur visit go? Thanx, Lilly

My visit went very well!!!! CCI is way better than Centinela (thats where he was before) The people were all very nice..... The check in at visiting went very fast and smooth. All in all I have no complaints! Inside the visiting room was cool because there is a grass area where you can sit and talk or even for you to walk around. I took our kids and they enjoyed it because there was somewhere for them to run around and be kids. I wish more people would post here so we could hear of other experiences. O-ya It snows there in the winter!!!!!!! The only thing that bugs me is the drive. I come from SD and its about 3 1/2 hours away from home. But I can deal with it!!!!!

Im glad u had a good visit with him. It sounds nice there, i found out my boy just got transfered down there, and that's why i havent gotten a letter yet. so i've been calling the inmate locator but i cannot get through, i just get left on hold forever!!! And since i just moved to NV, he doesnt know my address here yet...Bummer! Anyways, i cant believe it snows there, i thought it was a desert?!?! Yeah ur drive is a ways, but mine is about 11hours away-so it could be worse (ha ha). And dont worry im sure more people will post here!!! Have a good day everyone and keep those heads up!

Well i just found out yesterday that he got transfered to Corcoran instead of CCI... havent heard from him yet but i just moved and he doesnt know my address too well yet so im going to write him today. i wonder why he got trans. to Corcoran?!?!

He is in the SHU. so that is neither 1 or 2 right? i know what the SHU is (ha ha) i just dont know what 1 and 2 are at Corcoran...

mrskaram tehachapi isn't a level prison anymore from my understanding thay suppose to be a reception yard now my husband just was transfered from they a couple of month's ago behind them closing down building 1 for they level 3's. Tehachapi is okay because it's convient and not no three to four hour drive there co's STUCK trust me, it snow's up there they get all three season's in one day good luck.

My man just got transfered there last month. I dont know exactly what type of inst. it is but he is level 2 and I know that they still have 1,2, 3, 4a and 4b. I havent heard of it being reception. But again who knows with CDCR they are all crazy!!!

Does anyone know if the mail is backed up at CCI????? It has took almost 6 days for my husband to get his mail and still nothing yet.....

My husband was transferred to CCI (SHU) from Calipatria about a year ago. He tells me that his M.E.R.D (min.eligibilty release date) from the SHU is in 2009. I am worried that he has an indeterminate sentence but just isnt telling me. Is there any way I can find out for sure? Also, Don't feel so bad about driving a few hours to see your loved ones because I live over 1,500 miles away (in Kentucky) from my husband :-(

DIAMOND415 MY HUSBAND STAY AT CCI FOR A YEAR IN AHALF HE JUST LEFT FROM THERE AND AS FAR AS WE KNOW THEY MOVE THE WHOLE LEVEL 3 YARD BECAUSE THERE IS ONLY ONE BUILDING WHICH IS THE PWC YARD FOR LEVEL 3 YEAH THEYSTILL HAVE THE LEVEL 4 AND LEVEL 1 AND2 YARD'S BUT IT'S RAN BY THE STATE SO WHO KNOW'S WHAT THEY HAVE IN STORE.

My man is on level 2 and just got there from Centinela. CCI is way better than Centinela. I have only visited once so let me rephrase that they seem better. Although I am missing him dearly, I used to go see him every weekend because Centinela is only about 1 hr from my house. But CCI is 4 hours from the house! So now when I do go its for the weekend! It costs more but I guess its all the same because I used to spend alot going all weekend... Good luck! Where did your man get transfered to? I think mine will stay there until he paroles!

My mother in law drives to see him about once a month from San Diego (Imperial Beach) with my father in law, but she'd like to go more but she doesnt want to drive alone and Chuy's (My Hubby) Dad can only go once month. Oh I am also so glad for this thread. I just got news that Paul is going to be moved to Tehachapi. He has been in reception at Wasco for 80 days, I was able to see him there this last weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, but behind glass and only for one hour. I'm looking forward to contact visits, is that how it is at Tehachapi? And my approval for Wasco goes on even if he's transferred Right? I would love to find out more about Tehachapi if anyone has any info? I do know that it is closer than Wasco, see I'm living in Utah now and it took me 6 hours (plus a layover in Las Vegas on the way home:>) But Tehachapi was in the mountains and a really cute town, I like how the train tracks run through the mountain side in the tunnels. This is where he'll be until he gets out in July, I can't wait!!!

Tehachapi is cool. It is very cold there make sure you dress warm. I like visiting and yes it is contact as long as he is classified. Good luck... What is his level 1,2,3 or 4?

My husband just called me last night and said they found a case of Tuberculosis on the yard, Level 2, They have quarantined one dorm and might start quarentining more. I am suppose to have my family visit this weekend but that might not happen now. Has anyone heard anything about this?

My husband is also on the Level 2 Yard at CCI. He just called to tell me their still under quarantine and probably won't have visits this weeknd.

1/7/06 I have never written before but I went to visit and was told that the whole prison was on lockdown. I called but was given no information. My son is there and of course I am concern. Do we ever stop worrying about them? I have not been able to get any information. His wife is very concerned. How do I find out what is going on? A couple of months ago they put his unit on medical lockdown. Supposedly for a suspected TB case. I know it takes about 48 to 72 hours for tb tests to come back. I hate when they think we are stupid. If anyone has any information please reply. I am concerned. I have one son in prison and one in the army. I need some kind of stress relief.

Hi Darlene, I too try to visit my husband yesterday at Tehachapi. But when I arrive there was a CO outside who
had a chair with a sign saying no visiting today due to a power outage. So I am not sure what to believe.
But I did call back this morning and was told there is visiting today. But that was for Level 4 Gym. And see
I have to have an appointment to see my husband because he is still in receptions waiting to be classified.

I like the way CCI is compared to where my husband was before. What city do you live in. I live in San Diego and it takes me 3 1/2 hours to get there if I leave the night before and drive through LA. This past weekend was the first time I had heard of them on lockdown since my babe has been there (october) Good luck PM me if you have more questions and I will see if I can answer them for ya!

My future EX husband is at CCI in the SHU. Anyway, I had a friend from another state that my husband didn't know about write him to see if he'd write back. Well, HELL YES HE DID! He wrote all kinds of crazy crap like "may our friendship prosper and whatever may bloom from that" WTF????? So I wrote him and said "You friggin' penitentiary retard! I set you up and you failed BIG TIME!" Hahahahahaha...I would have loved to been a fly on the wall and watched him read that! Im sorry that happened to you... I dont think that all men are like that which are in prison. Some that are in prison are really serious about life and want to do the right thing, its unfortunate that your man has made a childish mistake! Keep your head up your better than that! My boyfriend just got in to Tehachapi...from county jail...I live in Kansas.. Was in CA, and was wanting to go visit him some time in the near futrure..The way things look from here, (reading all the posts) won't be soon but I was wondering if Tehachapi had a Friendship house or a Hospotality house?? or if you just have any advise at all, is so wellcome at this point.. Hiii everyone.. well I visited in CCI for about 1 1/2 years or something like that... My b/f was in 4A and it was hell in there. I hated it and i couldn't wait to get out.. He's out of there now but not out of the system yet. Neways I have a lot of friends up there that I still keep in touch with, not the inmates but their wives/g/fs .. a few of us ended up being close and are still in contact. I am familiar with a lot of their b.s. so if any of you have any questions I will be glad to help you with whatever I can. Oh and DIamond girl I have a friend who goes their from San Diego too if you want I can talk to her and maybe you 2 can hook up and carpool over there because she always stays up there in Motel 6 too.. (( that's where we all used to stay, ha ha)) ... Good luck with all of you and your loved ones!

Motel 6 is a cool spot and its clean and its not too expensive.. I didnt know that was the spot, I guess I dont pay attention because I just come and go! Have you ever been when it snows? If so what is the process for visiting and do they plow the road or do you need chains?

Yah Motel 6 is pretty cooll.. its been out "spot" for awhile, ha ha.. reason being, we used to go stay with a few people and split the $40. a night in 3 or 2 and so it would help us financially... I never went up there when it snowed because honestly I was scared... This one time we went and got caught in the huge storm in Lancaster / Palmdale and were scaredddddd so after that I made sure the weather was good.. what yard is your man in???

My babe is on the 2 yard. I went over new years and it rained like crazy. Its also supposed to rain this weekend I just drive slow!!!!! It took me almost 6 hrs to get back to San Diego when I did come home!

Call the mail room!!!! They got all the answers! You can also call his counselor..... I'd call the mail room first!

Motel 6 is cool, I stay there every other weekend, it is cool to have people for support and that is what Ace212 was for me, THank you girl, and love ya much....16 more months LEFT!!!!!!!!!That is what truely keeps me going and the fact that I am head over heels for my hubby....

And regarding the mail....Yeah that is just CCI...Around the holidays it is like that. I got a letter 2weeks ago dated 12/18/2005.. NOW that is just crazy...But I have learned that CCI is full of it and to leave it in the hands of the Lord!!! I have been going there EVERY =weekend non-stop for 10months and it has gotton worse, but I refuse to let them BREAK me..If you need help or just support..Please PM and I will respond....

Well my new found friends,:) I finally got a answer,:o why the mail has never came. they told me he had access to pencils and paper and that is what was wrong.:( he had nothing to write with...So finally they gave him something and his mom called me last night and read me his letter.:D ..sence she lives there in CA she got hers first, so now I should be getting mine any time...Thank you Lord:love:....and the best news is his spirits are good..Thats what we was so worried about is him giving up with no kind of contact..But all is well. Just goes to show you. keep praying ladies our prayers will get answered.

I hate Tehachapi right now AGHHHHHH!!! We went for visit this weekend and it was bad. MY babe came out at around 11:30am because they decided to start fighting over the TV... Thank God they let him out still. After I drove 250 miles to see him!

Diamond415, I know how you feel. My husband was in the Chapel on Saturday and says that he kept coming out to see if I was there, but the CO's didn't page him (even though they told me they did). So I sat in the Visiting room with my little one for about an hour before he finally came out. I was so pissed cause about three different bus groups of people were already visiting. Hey, but at least we got to visit, huh :o

same thing happened to me on Sunday. i always get there at 8am, and this time i didn't get to see him until 11:30am. that's messed up, but yeah you're right LUKLUV at least i got to see him!! :)

I was so happy when my man came out I thought for awhile that they were gonna cancel visits altogether!!! You must have came in at the same time as me karinaluvalexz!!!! It was a hard 2 hours!!!!! I had my two children with me and they were getting anxious!

hi ladies, about a week a go i asked all of you if you were still having problems with the mail, my b/f is @ cci but i haven't heard from him since december all i know is that he is in unit 3 gym, im still waiting to be approved for visiting and called the prison to see if i could find out anything all they told me was that he did have his things and that he was fine but could not get an answer as to regarding the mail, im not sure as to what to do now. any info on what to do will be highly appreciated thanks to all & god bless.

my honey is on level 2. is it really gonna snow and rain this weekend? i really hope it doesn't. i'll be there both saturday and sunday. i saw my man this past sunday the 12th but only for a short time. i got there kind of late!! but at least i saw him!! :) he did surprise me though, he got my name tattoed on his neck!!! i was shocked!!! it's pretty big and so noticeable. it's a little bit below the ear. can he get in trouble for getting a tattoo in there?

:confused: My man was moved to Tehachapi the end of Jan and I assume that he is in reception since he has not been able to call. I've gotten three letters from him but have no idea what level he is in (or where he will be).

I have sent him letters and even a book through Amazon - do you think he will be moving and may not get them?

I want to be sure to send him the quarterly package from Walkenhorsts (cut off for orders said 3/27) - again, do you think it will be ok to send?

Can I send him paper, envelopes, and stamps through the mail?

Lastly, when do you think he will be able to call? I miss him!

EvansWifey, dress really warm tomorrow. It snowed last night and when I got there this morning snow was covering the ground and local residents cars.

Directions: Take the 405N to the 5N to the 14 (towards Palmdale). The 14 will end in Mojave. Keep going until you hit the 58 (towards Bakersfield). Exit Highway 202 and follow the signs from there.

thanks for directions!! :) I made it today to visit. It was not so bad to get there but I managed to get lost on the way home. didn't exit at mojave to get to 14. I ended up taking a detour for about 45 minutes. Oh well at least I got lost on the way home not the way there. It was a nice visit. I hadn't seen my husband since December. The only bad part was the non contact. :(

Yes unfortunatly this is true.My husband is on 4a, he is an OTHER, and the hispanics have been on LD since Oct2005, then got off 2weeks ago and then last week got right back on, from the 411 I got it was an assult on a CO..Anyway my visit this weekend was BS...I went there on Sat and it was cool then on Sunday they did it again,. they accussed my husband and I of excessive contact, but did NOT give us termination papers at all I had to yell cuss and go off, then 25monutes later I got them. Let me start from the beginning, see since last year my husband and I have been the exsistance of their harrassment. I mean form potty watch and strip searches(( which we were found INNOCENT each time, to terminations for NO reason WHICH OUR visits are reinstated IMMEDIATELY..to just plan ole nit-picking..This has been going on forever, and I have kept my mouth shut, because my husband is one of the FEW on 4a with a release date, and in the visiting area he is the ONLY one, so I know that they are trying to BREAK him so he gets more time, so this weekend was the straw that broke the camels back, I went OFF!!!! GIrls I mean I just said it is BS how we are constantly singled out, and NONE of the alligations stick, so this time they used the fact that I used profanity to get me suspended. Minimum 30days I wont know til Wed, BUt I am praying and believing that the LORD will give me favor. I have written to Sacramento and to the Warden((again)) I can NOT take the embarrassment and singling out, because my husband will loose it next..and I need him to come out..CCI is 202Highway to HELL...The Cos abuse their authority. THey NEVER pick on the LIFERS and it is NOT going to happen any longer I will get those COs to either get repremanded or transfered..It is not fun being labled and terminated every other visit, or the Co coming to your table just because you are turned not even half way in your sit, just to pick on you. Well I was like an abused animal and I SNAPPED..

Ok listen to this bull!!!!!! I paid my bill on Monday night (MCI) and my balance was -0 then on Tuesday my babe called me and we talked... On wed. he calls me upset because they put a block on the phone, I was hot. He didnt call until 10:05pm so you know mci already closed..... I couldnt sleep all night I couldnt figure out why they blocked me.... I pay every time in full and on time!!!! I called mci at 4:15am our time PST. They said they sent me a bill and it got returned to sender so they blocked me and I have to fax them my current bill with my address so they could verify!~ Verify what I said!!! Why dont you verify how many times and how much money I have paid your stupida-- company for the last 4 years! Too make a long story short, they said once I faxed the bill it would take 24-48 hrs before they would release the block. They was not lyin it took 27 hrs to release the block after I proved that the mailman made a mistake and returned my mail to sender for no reason at all. I am so sick of MCI dictating how and when I talk to my husband~! Ughhhh Has this happened to anyone else?
