View Full Version : Twin Towers jail in Los Angeles - info needed
Strasse 11-14-2005, 05:06 PM Has anyone visited at Twin Towers in L.A.? I'm doing a favor for someone...
The person is listed as "Visitor Status: 0" on the LASD website. No idea what that means.
Is visiting restricted to certain days based on any criteria, like, odd/even booking numbers, etc.? I can't find any such info on the LASD site, but the person I'm doing the favor for seemed to think that visiting was so segmented...
Thanks!

Thanks; tried that all day, and then (with LA hell-traffic) couldn't get there in time anyway... Left Century City at 4:45 and didn't get to the neighborhood of TTCF until 3 minutes 'till 6. :( Will try again tomorrow.

"OK"?
Yikes, good to know about the lines. Thanks!
kristinam79 11-15-2005, 11:39 AM GO TO WWW.LASD.ORG (http://www.LASD.ORG). THEN CLICK ON INSTITUTUIONS AND IT WILL BRING UP THE INFO FOR TWIN TOWERS, OF WHEN ARE LOKING AT THE PERSONS RECORDS, RIGHT UNDER NEATH WHERE IT SHOWS HE IS AT, YOU CAN SEE WHERE IT SAYS "FACILITY VISITING"
ALSO, 0 MEANS HE HASNT HAD VISITORS FOR THAT DAY
Strasse 11-15-2005, 11:51 AM Thanks for the info on the '0' for visitor status!
It says you can bring up only a single key and an ID... This may be a stupid question, but, can you wear a belt and watch? (I'm assuming the visits are behind glass...)
Mrs.L 11-15-2005, 01:17 PM Thanks for the info on the '0' for visitor status!

They have lockers that you can put stuff in if needed. I think they take quarters. Or at least they used to. Not a stupid question, the belt/watch are fine. And your assumption is correct; visiting is behind glass.
FaithHeals 11-15-2005, 02:46 PM My husband was at both just this last year, and here's what I know:
If he's definitely in Twin Towers, not Men's Central, then visiting is much nicer and a little longer. In MC, you only get about 15 minutes for General Population visiting, and you do want to get there early in the morning, like around 7am, but visiting doesn't start until 10. Men's Central is crappy when it comes to visiting.
For Twin Towers, I used to get there between 6:30 and 7am, and I always made it in the first group. They start taking visitors at 7:30 for processing, and then you get a half hour visit behind glass. It's just a cleaner, nicer facility, imo.
This is how it was as of May of this year. I apologize if anything's changed, or gotten worse since then at Twin Towers. Oh, and yes you can wear jewelry, you just can't bring up anything except your locker key and ID. But they do have lockers to rent for 1 quarter.

Strasse 11-15-2005, 10:20 PM Okay, back from my errand. Belt and watch were no problem. There were lockers there for $.25. I went for the evening session, got there around 4:30 and was the 6th person in line for Tower 2. The line did get kind of long, but almost everyone was up in the first couple of waves. Parking down the street was $5, but when I got back to the car the booth was locked up and parking looked to be a free-for-all; guess the guy goes home after it's too late to show up *for* visiting... (The website says 5:30-6 for visiting, but we didn't even get upstairs until 6ish, and I was on the 4th floor, which had maybe 1/2 the stalls occupied; we talked for a good 25 minutes and cut our visit to an end ourselves, no one ushered us out...)
Just in case anyone else needs this info and stumbles across this thread...
dreamin_of_u 05-27-2007, 01:36 AM I need specifics on twin tower visits and marriage and family visits
Strasse 05-29-2007, 11:34 AM Twin towers visits are first-come-first-served (get their early to line up), and behind glass over phones. They're supposed to last 15 minutes or so but sometimes you get longer, if the SDs aren't on the ball.
There are no family visits at Twin Towers, it's a county facility and in California, only state prison facilities (CDCR) have family visits.
Can't tell you anything about marriage, sorry.
only1vero 09-22-2007, 02:07 AM do u know anything about marriages in twin towers now?
PBslilsister 10-13-2007, 05:09 PM I'm certain you can get married at Twin Towers. Everytime I go there to visit my brother I'm am overwhelmed with people hasseling me to come to them for a lawyer, bail bonds or to get married. Girls yelling "they'll go easier on him is you marry him." I have started yelling back I'm not going to marry my brother so they'll leave me alone. Just go down there, I bet they have you married off before you know what happened.
ALWAYS HERE 4 M 10-19-2007, 07:36 PM Visits at the Towers are 30 minutes and a lot easier than MCJ. I'm trying to find info on getting married at the Towers too. Someone told me to call friends outside and they help you set it up for about $250. I'm checking into it....keep you posted.
Imani 10-19-2007, 07:58 PM PBslilsister, you can not get married at Twin Towers only at State Prisons. At least that's what I've heard
Strasse, sometimes the visitors status says 0 when an Inmate is in transport to State etc. That means they can not have any visitors when they getting ready to leave. I found that out the hard way when my friend left for Wayside and went there to visit they told me he couldn't have any because he's being transfered.
ALWAYS HERE 4 M 10-22-2007, 04:19 PM Here are a few numbers to try for more info on getting married at LA County or Twin Towers. 323-581-3861, 310-673-4000, 714-997-5800, 562-462-2137. I'm gonna try a little later today and let you know in the case you don't get a chance k. Good Luck. = )
shygirl323 10-22-2007, 05:28 PM I actually got married while my husband was in jail so I've been through it. The place I went to was the Ivy House in Inglewood, CA. They were really nice and I know that place is legit because my parents and grandparents were married there. (not while in jail and 35 and 28 years ago) so they've also been around awhile. My husband and I have been married for almost seven years now and no one has ever questioned our marriage. (like other people I know who took a different route).
I paid $225 + 100 license (confidential marriage) + 60 cert fee

shygirl323 10-22-2007, 05:32 PM if the visitor status says 0 that just means that they haven't had any visits. I had been going to county from 10/03 - 8/07 every weekend that they weren't on lockdown. So you can trust my answer.
ALWAYS HERE 4 M 10-22-2007, 05:47 PM I tried to reach the Ivy House and there phone is disconnected. = (
A few of the numbers I did reach all said the same thing. You have to get an Inabability to Appear form from the County Recorder, get it signed by your fiance if possible through their attorney and a judge. Once it's signed you have to get approval from Twin Towers or MCJ. They said it takes about 2-3 weeks to get approved. They go with you to pick up your marriage license then they go with you to the jail and it's done through a visit. $600 for everything. Good Luck for anyone who needs the info.
tessa78 10-22-2007, 06:45 PM Ivy House is out of business! I posted this on one of the other threads. They closed their doors without filing and finishing tons of weddings and licenses, including mine!!!!
ALWAYS HERE 4 M 10-22-2007, 07:02 PM Wow...sorry to hear tessa!
tessa78 10-23-2007, 11:30 AM It's ok.. That just means we'll have to do it when he gets mainlined.. And at least I'll get to hold his hand and spend the rest of the visiting day with him... :o
ALWAYS HERE 4 M 10-23-2007, 11:41 AM So true...good luck!! = )
tessa78 10-23-2007, 11:44 AM To you too!!!!
