and what is it like... My son -in-law is being sent there in one week.
Why they are moving him. we dont know . they said he would do
his time at Dogde. Do they have that right to move him. with out him saying so. please anyone.

Columbia is sort of near Wisconsin Dells, a major tourist attraction in South Central WI. If you go to this site http://www.wi-doc.com/adult.htm and scroll down, you'll see a link to directions to various prisons. Columbia also has a web site http://www.wi-doc.com/columbia.htm where you can get phone numbers, etc. and last year's annual report. My friend is considering this prison, so I'm interested to hear what others know, too.

Dodge is usually where they start their prison sentences, it's mostly a beginning point for orientation. Then they are sent to a different facility. While some inmates do serve out their time at Dodge, I'm not sure how they determine who stays or not. The inmate doesn't get a say in the matter. They can be sent to any prison within their security level. So if he's supposed to be in max security, he would go to any one of the max prisons that have room for him.
When he sees PRC if he's up for a security level change he can request his preferences, but ultimately, they send you where they have room for you.

my man is in columbia and i know it is a max prison and it is far away and i dont like that because i cant get there too see him..... and he says its hard.....
