A lot of us have hobbies, something that we're really passionate about. I thought it would be great to see what we are each interested in...and if our loved ones enjoy the same thing, or if they don't particularly care for it!

When I was 2 years old I got my first little pony and have loved horses ever since. I've had many horses (though don't own one now :( ) and I have volunteered at a girlscout horse camp for 13 years. Horses are my passion...no matter how bad of a day/week I've had, when I'm out there with the horses and teaching the kids about them, it's like I'm in a whole new world...a very relaxing one! I could litterally spend HOURS just brushing one, or sit in the pasture watching the 25 horses graze.

My husband is a city slicker, and doesn't have a passion for horses...however we've been riding together a couple of times, and he's all for living on the farm. He keeps telling me that I'll get my wish (owning land, big barn, and lots of horses)

I know I rambled a bit, but I'm currious to find out what your passions/hobbies are that let you get your mind off of ordinary stress! And does your loved one share the same interest???

Sewing. I received my first sewing machine when I was a small girl. It was one of the kind that you had to work the treadle to make it sew. I don't know what happened to that one, but my dear husband bought me one a few years ago because he knows how much I love them. And you are right Fed X, I don't know anyone else who has that collection!

Scrapbooking, I started after my grandson was sent to prison last year. I am making him a scrapbook of his baby daughter, she was 5 months when he went in, she will be two this February. This way he will not miss her growing up thru the years.

 I think that you doing that for him is really special. He did make a mistake, but he shouldn't have to miss his little baby girl growing up. I am passionate about tattoos. I love everthing associated with them; the whole society that goes along with the tattoo culture. I love getting tattooed, seeing other people's work, artist scouting, going to conventions, going to artist's art shows(a lot of tattoo artists do more that just tattooing). A lot of people don't appreciate tattoos like I do, I live for it as a way of self expression and admire/appreciate the artistry behind all of it.

Okay, so here's another hobby that I bet NO one else in here does...it's Halloween. I love building my display for each year. It's been featured in our local newpapers, I have people stop and say they come up here on vacation every year in October to see what I've put up, have been offered donations.
One little prison related item on my hobby...when the paper was delivered to the prison, and my oldest boy mentioned to his cellmate that that was his house, a bunch of other inmates came up to him and said, "Wow, that's your place?" "Your mom is awesome." "I used to check it out every year."
I always maintained that the reason nobody ever vandalized the display was because my kids were friends wit all the ones who might do that. ;)
If anyone is interested in seeing my halloween stuff, it's at photobucket, under the username sbclark, in the Halloween 2005 album.

My mom used to set up these Department 56 scenes for Halloween and Christmas every year in her front window. Al the kids would be lined up looking into her window. i used to think it was so cool. I just don't want to make that kind of investment. I do a lot of scrapboking and I am trying to teach myself to quilt, knit and crochet.
