Hi!

First I'd like to thank everyone here for being really open and friendly - I'm new here and to all this - so that made me really happy :)

Then.... I have a question - I don't know if it's inappropriate - if so - I'm sorry.

But I was wondering if anyone knows what sort of pictures they are allowed and what sort of pictures are not allowed to receive on DR - Polunksy Texas? :o

I'd be grateful for help :)

Yeah no nudes anymore. You can send a picture if you are wearing a thong. This is how someone told me (sorry I can't think of a better way to put it) you can't show hair or anything on top that Eve didn't cover :)

Info from the TDCJ site:

All sexually explicit images contained in publications or in offender mail will be considered contraband and prohibited.

Sexually explicit is defined as "material that shows the frontal nudity of either gender, including the exposed female breast(s) with nipple(s) or areola(s), or the genitalia or anus of either gender. The chests of infants and pre-pubescent children are not considered breasts." This definition is consistent with the one used by most states in the 9th Circuit that has withstood challenges, and with the policy used by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Publications constituting educational, medical, scientific, or artistic materials, including but not limited to, anatomy medical reference books, general practitioner reference books and/or guides, National Geographic, or artistic reference material depicting historical, modern and/or post modern art era, may be permitted on a case-by-case basis.

The intent of the new policy on sexually explicit materials is to encourage a rehabilitative environment for offenders and to discourage sexual harassment of staff.

My friend has run into problems with not being able to have any pictures of herself or stationery with her name on it while at Mt. View in Gatesville, but that was a couple of wardens ago and may have changed. I do know that one could get pictures taken when visiting at Gatesville for a while but this has long since stopped.

Hi DaveMoff!

I know this is something completely different than what this thread was originally about - but I know a woman in Gatesville as well :)
She's in GP - I think that's what it's called anyway - she's serving a life sentence - so it's not the DP.

Yes--Gatesville is a "Multi-Purpose Facility", currently housing the Women's Death Row, along with, I believe, prisoners who are handicapped or under psychiatric care. Possibly others as well. I would not be at all surprised if there was a completely different set of rules and regulations for each, sigh.
