Alito Tells U.S. Senators Roe Ruling Merits Respect (Update1)
Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito Jr. told two senators that the court's 1973 ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion is a precedent that deserves ``great respect.''
Alito declined to say whether he would vote to overturn the 32-year-old Roe v. Wade ruling if confirmed to the high court, the senators said after separate private meetings with the nominee today.
