Hi, after reading most of the threads here, I was wondering how much of you are Asians and dating someone from different race/ ethnicity. (Lots about White & Black issues had been discussed though.)
I am Asian (not Asian American), and my BF is Black. I don't see color as a problem between us, and I believe language difference(English is my second language) does not either. My BF says he understands me fully, and that's most important!!! :)
However, there are times when we feel different. We often find difference in common sense which emerge from cultural background. But being different from one another isn't a problem, it's more about learning new things and nurturing self. I even think I'm fortunate to have opportunities to learn new ways of thinking thru him.:D :D
How do you guys see inter-ethnic relationship? Any inputs?

I'm Arab and my Baba is Asian! I agree, variety is the spice of life! I've always been attracted to Asian men, but when I saw him....I knew. ;)
I'm Filipino-American and my man is black. I don't get much from society except when I am seen with him by older Filipinos. We get an occasional dirty look/stares and some people are rude. The younger generations Filipinos tend to be more accepting of IRR. But for real, I really don't care. I had to deal with IR issues from my own parents. Unfortunately, I am used to the ignorance. My parents have never met any of my boyfriends. I think its sad that I can't share who I truely am with my family. But I refuse to participate in such ignorant beliefs

I hear ya on that one. I got a lot of shi* from my mother, who is Filipino, about my husband being black. But what makes it worse, is that her friends talk a lot of shi* about his color and it got worse when he went in.
They even make comments about our children, they "prefer" my son's hair short because he could pass for a dark Filipino.
My father though, full German, was very accepting, he treated him like he was his own son, color never mattered with him.
I do have to agree that love is love, my parents were marred for 33 years, before my father passed. My mother speaks very, very, very little English, and it was heavily accented and broken at that, and my father spoke no Tagalog, it just goes to show what love is capable of.
I don't get why these Filipino's make rude comments, they're in IRR's too, they married someone white to come to America (at least the one's I know of did).
